Editable Posts - New Methods Proposed

As a brief introduction, new users still cannot edit their own posts. Adobe has adopted this stance pursuant of decreasing spam. Here are a few new solutions and insights to consider. Thank you for your time: (1.) Perhaps new users would be limited to a certain number of edits per unit of time, and/or a certain amount of edits total per post. I believe that would serve both party's interests better. (2.) Relatedly, I would advocate for the auto spell check to work within this app. (3.) Either way, I think it would be more fitting if the tiers for enabling editing were objective and publicly disclosed (even with a UI showing users how much progress they need), similar to as they are for Apple's community pages. It's psychologically draining to not know what we're aiming for. The reason others and I share these concerns is that the point of engaging in this community is to improve and innovate. If we are not as compelled to share, or accurately share, then we all suffer. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration on these items.

1) Editing one's own posts is a privilege reserved for participants with a proven history. You earn that privilege through participation & accruing badges.  Adobe's made it clear that they're not changing that policy. 

 

2) Adobe leases this platform from the 3rd party who built & maintains it. Khoros are not adding new features to this system,  which is several years old now. Apart from essential functions, it's in minimal-maintenance status until Adobe sees fit to switch to a new platform.

 

3) As for spell check, I use LanguageTool basic— a free browser add-on for Firefox, Chrome, etc...  LT Basic is a powerful grammar & spell checker that works great on all social media platforms.   A++

I'm well aware of the current methodology, @Nancy OShea. However, many other and I disagree with it for many logical reasons. Rather than simply complaining, like many other users, I utilized the correct section on this community to post my ideas. It is important to remember that being privileged can often make us feel privileged, and at the expense of others. What I proposed was not to remove that privilege, but to make it more objective and transparent. Therefore, you markedly misunderstood my intention, which is honestly dissapointing. I also use a spell check system, but it’s antiquated to say the least that it isn’t natively present. Thanks for making your privledges clear.

In a perfect world, everyone would get instant gratification and be able to do whatever they want when they want to. But social media platforms are not perfect spaces. Among other things, they're inundated by bots 24/7, many with bad intentions. A lot goes on here behind the scenes that most product users never see.

 

In this environment, there's a fine line between 'transparency' and handing over the 'keys to the kingdom.'  Accordingly, Adobe chooses not to publish certain details that could possibly be used by bots, spammers or scammers to exploit the system.

 

As an optional alternative, Adobe has an active sub-space on Reddit — a no-frills platform that some people prefer.
