Question

Email notifications not sent anymore on most (but not all) discussions I participate in

It appears that something is broken in the forum email notifications (well, at least for me and at least on the InDesign forum).

I noticed that for several days already, I don't receive most email notifications about new posts in discussions I participate in. I do receive such notifications about some posts, which seem to be at random.

I checked spam folders; nothing's there. I'm only active on InDesign forum.

I checked my profile settings - all notification options are checked as always.

Never had this issue in years of using the forums.

Am I the only one, or is it a known issue?

I know that quoting works as expected on the InDesign forum.

Can it be fixed here?

yes, it can be fixed by moving this to the discussions subforum, which i've done

"I've just discovered that this particular forum has its own bug"

=========

Not a bug.  BUGS & IDEAS posts are unthreaded.  Quoting doesn't work the same here as regular Discussions. It's that way by design.

Thanks @droopydog500 ,

The email notifications seem to be back by now.

BTW, I've just discovered that this particular forum has its own bug:

When I click the "quote" icon, it always quotes my original post, not the post I'm actually replying to.

Which, naturally, makes the quote feature kind of useless.

I know that quoting works as expected on the InDesign forum.

Can it be fixed here?

using the community profile has an advantage over using notifications in that you can tell if you've been the last to reply to that thread and therefore have nothing to check.  it may have some disadvantages, but i'm not aware of any.

@Edward384,

I turned off email notifications years ago and never looked back.  They were taking up too much space in my inbox, especially when really old topics were resurrected by spam bots.  Who needs that?

Instead, I log-in to the web forum and click on my Notifications tab (bell icon adjacent to avatar).

Notifications shows me recent reply activity in topics I've participated in.

Hope that helps.

@Edward384

there's nothing, i know of, that you can do.  you just have to wait for adobe to fix the issues.

for most users, checking your community profile is adequate,

@leo.r

and after that was fixed, the ace site lost (at least temporarily - https://adobecommunityexperts.influitive.com/forum/t/points-not-being-awarded-automatically/4714/92) the points for your adobe related activities.

ie, by the pst morning of 6/29, points stopped coming through to ace.  on most of 6/28 points went through.  on 7/5, points at ace were normally being assigned, but the points from 6/29 through 7/4 still hadn't been assigned.

Hi there,

I'm experiencing the same issue with email notifications, but on the Photoshop forum. Over the past few days, I’ve noticed that I’m not receiving email notifications for most new posts in discussions I’m part of, except for a few random ones.

I’ve also checked my spam folder and my profile settings, and everything seems to be in order. This has never been an issue for me either, so it's definitely puzzling.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or is there a known fix?

Thanks!

Hello @leo.r,

There was a problem last week, but it seems to have been resolved.

My best,
