OK, there's good progress in not being forced to sign in every time, but there's some way to go. We're missing:

1. Number of posts in a thread

2. Indication of most recent contributor to a thread

I won't be sure about this.  The days of these forums are numbered because it looks like the hackers are targeting forums and sabotaging the business of big corporations.  For example Avast Forums were hacked over the weekend and they are still down and unlikely to be up for a very ling time until they have migrated to a new platform.

<Avast Anti Virus Forum hacked, Login Credentials of 400,000 users compromised | TechWorm>

We know about Adobe's big hack last year;  AOL was hacked about two months ago;  Yahoo have been hacked several times in the last 4 years.  I think the cloud business is going to face a tough time if these hackings continue.

Bring back nntp newsgroups so that people's credentials aren't stolen by anybody. People only want support for the products so why force them to provide real credentials which can't be kept safe online?

I wonder whether it is the forum change or the new version of FF, but new pages load faster for me, so overall I believe forum work is about as fast, or maybe rather about as slow, as before.

Same things for me, the forum is definitely more responsive these days. But I also use the new FF version.

    Making progress!

Still waiting for the "show username for last reply" feature, though.

Alright, I've got some responses- sorry it has taken so long, we've been trying to get everything sorted on our end.

Gilad D (try67) What happened to the "personalized view"? I worked hard on creating an easy-to-use list of the forums I like to frequent... Is this feature gone?

Nope, you can "bookmark" forums you frequent and find those bookmarks on your profile. Arrow next to avatar>view profile>More>Bookmarks

nickna12 Are you still having issues staying signed in? Are you checking the "Remember Me" box?

Laubender Fixed the widget error on the ID forum.

@SteveG When I reply to a thread, why is the system sending me a PM saying that I've replied to it? How do I stop any of this software insanity sending me these messages? Is there any way to turn all that off?

You can change your email preferences: Arrow next to your avatar>Preferences or you may be following a thread. Next time you get an email, click to the thread/forum and make sure you're not following (you should see the option TO follow rather than "Stop Following")

Let me know if you have any other questions. We're working on getting the "Latest reply by…" added, but no official word yet. We have a ton of open cases on a lot of the topics everyone brought up here, so there should be some improvements coming soon.

FTFY: Yep, but you can "bookmark" forums [...]

Oh, I was mistaken- I'm sorry. Have you checked out the "Communities" section? Same location as bookmarks.

Trying out a different widget (recent activity) on the overview page of Forum Comments. It shows the  number of replies and the last reply in the thread. Is this any better?

Well, it certainly is a step in the right direction. Thank you.

Showing the user name of the last poster in the thread would also be nice.

What is most needed now: breadcrumbs at the bottom of the page.

    John,

This is a quite different question about how these forums work:

There are 3 HELPFUL (answers) in this thread. Did you mark them as such, and if so, how?

I (have) thought that only staff/moderators could mark answers as Helpful after the change.

If you click on the Helpful button at the top of the thread, it shows them marked by Steve Werner:

    Thank you, John.

I doubt whether I had ever found out myself.

Am I right in assuming that you have no option of marking anything as Helpful, neither directly nor in the Actions dropdown list of posts by others?

Just use your real name.  Problem solved and more effective and courteous communications as a side benefit.

Last time I did that in these forums was years ago. Wasn't a big deal until some nutcase that disagreed with me (and many other people. That's just how he was) figured out where I was and where I worked and started calling my shop continually. Fortunately my boss at the time was cool about it. Where I work now wouldn't be so...accepting if the same thing happened.

And why, when my profile still includes my "screen" name, am I credited as the author under my "real" name if I post to any thread?

    Legend
    May 5, 2014

As I explained before, when logged in you see YOUR real name used everywhere, but everyone else will see your screen name. Nobody knows why it's like that, it just is.

    May 5, 2014

I am completely lost in how to use forum.  I am getting e-mails where I never have before.

    What is this Follow button?

How do you get the old view back with a list of posts?

Or do us old guys just quit so Adobe gets less complaints?

    May 5, 2014

@Curt – You can change the view from a "tile" ordered list to a "text" ordered list.

I call that the "Tile List View":

And this one the "Text List View":

When in Tile View you can switch the tile by hovring the mouse over the right bottom corner of the tile:

And click. Here two tiles next to each other. The left one switched over. The mouse pointer is hovering over the right one at the right bottom corner (mouse pointer not visible here in the screen shot):

What is a bit obscure to me, to say the least, why does the text on the front of the tile is reading "last modified by" followed by name, when in fact the name represents the author of the initial question… It should be reading "Author:" instead of "last modified by"!

I need information about the last forum member answering in a particular thread. This is the minimum requirement!

Also I cannot see any points given, the Status of a particular forum member when inside a thread.

And hovering the mouse pointer of the member's icon to get this info is very, very slow.

Also missing the small context menu for inserting URLs and things like that…

And the bread-crump navigation at the bottom of a thread. Returning to "Discussion" (the overview) will require to scroll up.

Can't figure out how to search for content. Every user icon shows the same no. of correct answers.

This must be part of HEALTHCARE.GOV

You can "filter" topics by text:

But the "advanced search" features are particularly well-hidden.   Go to the Overview tab, and under Ask a Question, type your search terms but do not type return or click the Ask Now button -- just wait patiently until it finally decides to show initial search results, and then click "Search all results in ...":

This will take you to an advanced-search page where you can search by author, type of content, last-modified date, and sort order.

Beware: I get different search results when using the "filter by text" and the advanced search.

Still exploring the new interface, it has definitely some nice improvements. One big issue is it's really slow! Do you feel the same way?

I'm using a core i3 with 8Gb of RAM, and didn't experience a slow forum like that since the 56K era . But I guess (and hope) it will get better in a few days.

Also there is no preview option anymore before sending a reply.

The biggest thing that I am missing an indication of whether or not I have read a thread. Just makes it very difficult to figure out where I need to spend my valuable time helping users.

I also have still not figured out the email forwarding interface. We need some kind of a tutorial or instruction page on how to set that up because I can't afford unwanted emails in my inbox. I am already digging through 2 to 300 per day in the course of running my business. I would like the ability to temporary follow a single thread however.

There are some improvements in the mobile interface, but things still aren't really easy on a tablet.
