gif animation?

Can a gif animation be put in a post? I tried it and it previewed fine, but does not run once the message is posted.

    I have seen animated smileys, but those were probably linked to from a server, rather than embedded. Do not recall any animated GIF's on this site.

    Good luck, and let's wait for some of the Web-design, Jive-literate folk to weigh in.
