how does one upvote a message?

OK I will reveal how completely techologically inept I am. How does one upvote a posting? I feel badly that many people have upvoted mine, and i can't return the favor.

At the bottom of reply messages (not the original post), you should see:

Clicking the Upvote will, well, upvote the message.

It's general practice to be selective in upvoting — it should be for a better than average or otherwise exceptional answer or addition to a thread, not just every reply (even "correct" ones). Stuff that's a little above and beyond.

You can also tag an answer "correct" — see 'Correct Answer' in that line of options — but it really should be one and only one reply that is the most correct and comprehensive, if there are multiple "good answers." That both rewards the poster a little and tags the thread as having a solution worth looking into.

And you can upvote a whole thread with the square box next to the subject line. I'm not sure what that does overall except rank those threads higher than others, again because they might have exceptionally good, complete or useful information.

Inept? At least you managed to post a question! The only option I can find to post anything is "Reply"!

I've been on here with questions many times before but if I don't find a relevant thread, I can't see how to post a new question! (I've managed to post in the past but either the function has changed or I've become blind to it staring me in the face!) 😕😕

So my question is: How do I post a question?

Thanks. OK, I see it on the root "Discussions" page but not on this one.
