Adobe Forums admin folks (John C, perhaps?), please have mercy on your users and make Verdana the default for posts, and not frickin' Arial. Verdana was designed for on-screen reading, while Arial was barely designed for reading at all. I'll set this same paragraph again in Verdana below, so you can see the difference. Assuming you can change the default font at all, of course.Adobe Forums admin folks (John C, perhaps?), please have mercy on your users and make Verdana the default for posts, and not frickin' Arial. Blank lines in text pasted from the clipboard into a message get deleted when the message is posted (at least with IE 7 and 8). Some use cases in which this is quite annoying:- Copying text from some other Web page, e.g. a FAQ.- Composing your message in another, more civilized text editor.
Is anyone having the same problem I am? I clicked the link to start receiving email notifications, thinking I'd receive an email to alert me to the fact that someone had responded to my post, and when suddenly my email account was inundated with dozens of threads that had nothing to do with my particular question, I returned to the Forums website, turned off notifications... but it didn't take. It just won't allow me to stop receiving email notifications. Flaw in the programming. Not the first time I've had problems on an Adobe web page. For having produced the best software in the world, they sure don't know how to use it correctly.ThanksTice
SDA seems to be monkeying around:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375651?start=135&tstart=0
Of all the things that have been broken and slowed and complicated, this is the one thing I miss the most. When I re-open a thread, I want to go right to where I left off, you know - like how it used to work...
Why is the FAQ for each forum missing when viewing posts? We say "reset prefs per FAQ," then the user reads it and... where is the FAQ? Not on the page where they might need it. The FAQ box must be the one ALWAYS visible for every type of page that might exists.
I don't see an option to rate the answer for a forum post. Am I missing something?
In the thread around and about http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/flexcoders/message/140998 (the Flex product manager) says thata) they've tweaked the subject and body templates so things are a little betterb) if they fix the email header problems so that threading works correctly (as it used to) it might take a bit longer than a) didWhy they didn't spot all this before go-live (maybe they did and decided to do it anyway, for what ever reason) I've no idea, and why it's the Flex product manager feeding this back to a community not even on this forum is another exercise I'm backing away from 🙂
Hi. I've tried using Mozilla, IE and Chrome to post a thread in the Flex forum.I can start a discussion and I can type the title of my thread but the cursor won't appear in the text area (the area i am typing in now).Any ideas?Cheers.
Actually, the Post button seems to work, but it's impossible to type any text, and the formatting toolbar is missing. Using Opera 9.64, Windows.I would have thought that cross browser compatibility would be important for a forum like this one.
COPTIED FROM A REPLY, but after I posted I decided I wanted this to be a thread of its own.As a 'News Group User' of the older forum, I find the e-mail feature to not be sufficient to make up the removal of the NTTP feature.I, and several like me, answered a lot more questions then we asked. To do this, we don't hang around the web interface all day. Rather we connected with our handy news readers to the NNTP feeds. Thus we could pruse all the new topics since the last time we had a few moments. See any that we could help with and fire off a reply, then go on to the next message. No back buttons, multiple web forms or any other huey that slows down serial responders. We NNTP users may have been a small group, but we where very vocal, at least on the ColdFusion forums where I share much of my knowledge.I can tell you, if today is the indication that this is the best that these new forums has to offer, I will not be a frequent contributor to these discussions
Here's a loophole: This original post could contain abuse or spam, yet there is no Report Abuse button to report it. I noticed it when I was contemplating reporting what looked like self promotion aimed at directing traffic to the poster's YouTube videos in a post in the Photography forum.
I am having problems with the forms. I try to print my answers into the form, but I can't. I have to print the blank form and then to fill it up manually. What am I doing wrong?
I too am on a Mac. A PowerBook 1.67GB 17" and I find all the forums much slower on this new system.Part of the problem is merging the two server systems together The Old Macromedia users and the old adobe Groups together. Therefore the are serving twice as many people or more on the same amount of Server equipment. Until they beef up the speed, and size of the servers and have sattelite equipment to lighten the load the system will always be slower than before. The system should be on the highest speed sytem they can get . T5, FOIS, whatever. And it should have the bigest hard drives and fastest processor availble. If the want to be serious.
I appreciate the other thread John C. posted in this forum for its succinctness, but I think I like the original one we had posted several places around these forums better:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375816?tstart=0And for anyone who'd like to be reminded of the ORIGINAL version of this, the one I pointed out years ago and which Len Hewitt summarized at the link above, please visit the following link. It's a goodie, and worth reviewing by many of us.How To Ask Question The Smart Wayhttp://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
I can't get past the first page of the indesign user's forum -- either by clicking on the next page icon, or clicking on a page number. When I click, the page is redrawn, but it remains on page 1. I'm using Safari 3.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.6.
The links in emails for 'reply/view' this thread, as well as 'you can't start a new thread over email' are both broken.
I can't type angle brackets (like > and <) in the non-rich editor. They go the same place as new lines. I hope it's a happy place.Hmm, sometimes they survive, lets try angle-fx foo close-angle, as in a code sample:yup, vanished. ffs. how am I meant to talk about MXML (i.e. that big Flex project Adobe do) then ?
I noticed that the FAQs are not pinned anymore at the top of the discussions. I guess it is only due to the transition period, and that we'll see them again.
This is a user-to-user forum. Unless you see EMPLOYEE under a screen name, you should assume the poster is an unpaid volunteer. Everyone's time is valuable, including yours. The following tips will help you get answers more quickly:DOGive your post a meaningful subject line, indicating of the nature of the problem. Give sufficient details (such as operating system, browser, hardware platform, and other relevant information) for others to understand the nature of the problem, but don't go overboard. Short, focused questions tend to get answered more quickly. If your problem concerns a web page that doesn't display as expected, upload the page to a public website and give the URL. But don't post links to anything you don't want indexed by a search engine. Create a test folder on the site, and remove the page when the problem has been solved.Give details of any error messages. Say briefly what you have done to try to solve the problem yourself. If your question involves a database or serv
The way the emails are displayed on these forums is an attractant for spam email trollers. the way it was hidden in the WebX forums resulted in no Spam for me. I noticed Dov and a few others that supplied email have also been SPAMed.At closer inspection I'm getting much more SPAM from everyone.I know all these SPAMs are because of the new forums because I only use the address they are coming to with my adobe account.
At least as far as the Windows side is concerned, it's annoying how many questions cannot be answered properly without asking first for information on PS version, OS version, System specs, and so on.Can we have a "Sticky" at the top asking this or even just quoting the link How to get help.
i suggest we lose the author, views and replies columns.widen up the column with the topic title so it doesn't wrap (unless it's really long).and replace the word "(updated)" to indicate an updated thread with the little red flags we all know and love.if the system is smart enough to dynamically insert the character string "(updated)" it's smart enough to post the character string "<img src="lilredflag.gif">"maybe tweak the new vs visited vs updated link colors a bit so there's more differentiation. rather than light blue, little less lighter blue, and bolder light blue.... 😉dave
...And by putting the Author of a thread starter in the left-most column of the thread index page it seems to me that the natural emphasis is focused on the wrong thing. The important thing is the Subject, and it should be given that position. In fact, I don't even care who starts a thread; I wouldn't even need to see that until I open the thread.Further, I'd rather not see a column dedicated to the authors of posts at all. I'd rather see their names on a line beneath the title of the thread or the reply.
Please remove the statement, "This Question is Possibly Answered ", presently located at the top of forum pages. It is practically useless. When a question has been answered the poster will mark it as answered. When it hasn't, the poster wont.
