Questions

I'm using a different computer and I'm seeing this in Safari:Also, I couldn't make a new post - the message box was very narrow and not accessible. Is it just old-browser-itis or has anyone else seen this layout? The 'currently being moderated' appears by every post. Weird.(2nd edit for typos - don't like this toy keyboard either )

If I visit this forum on the web and select a discussion to read, the 'Previous' link takes me to the next one and the 'Next' link takes me to the previous one. This strikes me as illogical - or is there something I don't understand?Noel

Go to a sub-forum and then to a discussion, click on the Discussions link at the top of the window, click on the name of the parent forum, and you get a page like this: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat?view=discussions when you should get a page like this: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

I realise attachments are being automatically scanned for viruses - but this is getting silly. I've just been looking at a question in the InDesign forum, and there are attachments there that have been queued for 10 hours. When someone requests a screenshot, so they can make sensible suggestions, this just stop the process dead. Can this be given a speed boost?

Clearly the Paint B****t Tool should be renamed to somthing less offensive. Any consensus for Paint Container Tool or Paint Pail Tool?Sigh. At first it was amusing, then annoying, but now just plain insane. Please, someone, remove b_u_c_k_e_t from the naughty list.

The new forums' rich-text editor hogs the CPU when using IE 8 on Vista.  The following causes it to consume 40% of a dual-core 1.8 GHz CPU (80% of a single processor):1. Reboot and open a new IE 8 window.2. Go to a forum and open 5 messages in tabs.3. Click on the first message tab.4. Reply to the message.5. Click the mouse on the editor's text box (where you type the body of a reply).6. Click on the other 4 message tabs in turn.7. Click back on the tab with the message reply being edited. If I open a new IE 8 window and repeat with another forum, about 80% of my CPU is being used. This doesn't happen with Firefox on the same machine or IE 7 on another XP machine. It's not reasonable to say "use Firefox", because most users of many products (e.g. Photoshop Elements) are on IE, and Windows auto-update is gradually upgrading users to IE 8 over the next couple of months.

Check out my post here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1896972#1896972You will see a bunch of extra plus signs (before "appliedFont"). Those plus signs were not there in the email which I sent. Here's the original text copied from my sent mail (into the web interface). You really shouldn't upload fonts for general download...Your problem is that you are missing a lot of extra equal signs. For example:if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.appliedFont = "Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")should be:if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.appliedFont == "Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")Also, I'm not sure that you are always going to get a string. It might be a font object. If that's the case you are going to need:if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.appliedFont == app.fonts.item("Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")(Or something like that...)BTW,It'll be much quicker if you get a reference to your doc and font and work from there:var doc = app.activeDocument;...var font = doc.paragraphStyles.appliedFont;....A

b What we have lost: b 1) Direct actual loss of functionality: b In the forum lists: The ability to see which threads have new posts (and how many) since the last visit: obtained by the use of flags, numbers, different colour. With it, you can immediately see and enter the threads that have grown, and the threads that you have visited. Without it, you are groping in the dark, wasting a lot of time. b In the threads: The feature of going to the last read post to continue: default. With it, you can just enter and continue reading. Without it you are groping in the dark, wasting a lot of time. The ability to open all posts without changing to a special view: obtained by pressing the Show All Messages button. With it, you can scroll easily back and forth throughout the continuous thread Without it, you have to go back and forth between pages, breaking up the continuity, unless you change to a special view (Print preview) that is lost as soon as you post. Dear John,Referring to complaints, pleas, and the losses mentioned here:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/294108?decorator=print&displayFullThread=true,1) Is it possible for Adobe to make the Jive people change the forum structure/options?2) Has it been or will it be tried?

The forum-search query "icc profiles ilford paper", with the forum "Photoshop Elements" selected, does not find the following message:http://forums.adobe.com/message/1520276#1520276Re: ICC ProfilesI just purchased some ILFORD paper and I downloaded and installed the ICC profile into Windows Vista without any problems. My question is when I open my printer properties and select a paper profile my ILFORD ICC profile is not showing. I have a Canon Pro9000 printer. However, this Google query does: icc profiles ilford paper photoshop elements site:forums.adobe.com Sigh, in general I'm finding it faster and more reliable to use Google to search not only Adobe forums, but the knowledge base and the rest of the Adobe site as well. Also, the message above is definitely indexed by the forum search engine, since you can retrieve it using the following query: subject:"icc profiles" ilford paper Of course, at the time I was searching, I didn't know which keywords were in the subject and which

I know this was probably posted before, but the more posts the more likely it may be that an Adobe official takes notice of the problems.Problem 1: A "Search this forum"-button is mandatory to be able to use the forums. Currently, each search provides search results from all forums. Using the Options-button to narrow the search results down each time is much too slow (see also problem 2) and the selection field is badly sorted. Hasn´t anybody tested this function before migrating?Problem 2: The new forum is even slower than the old one was. Developers probably have multicore systems and bandwith enough, but for users who are restricted to use dedicated Internet gate computers (and who have less bandwidth) like us it takes at least 30 Seconds for each Adobe page to display and to be clickable. When I type, the letters appear several seconds delayed. Reduce the layout and Flash, increase the usability.

It looks like those irritating codes at the end of the subject line are goingto stay. There are a couple of things about them that make them even moreirritating, but they could - I should have thought - easily be put right.(1) The first part looks like six randomly generated ascii characterssignifying the date. If that is the case, then five digits would do untilOctober 2173, just by counting days since 1 January 1900 (today is 39919, forexample). This would mean that parts of a thread sorted by subject would stayin the right date order even though the thread spanned more than one day. Theydon't at the moment, unless the random code happens to sort alphanumericallyin the right order.(2) It looks as if the last four characters increment as posts are recorded. The problem here is that they increment according to the ascii sort order, which cannot be specified for any mail client that I know of. The sort orderis , whereas 'normal' sorting would put A and a before B andb, and so on. Again,

...at least, I haven't seen anyone else refer to this, but it's possible I've missed it. And that is...Every once in a while I've noticed that I'll log-in, or return to the forums from elsewhere (another domain) and see that I'm logged in to the forums, but at the very top left of the page I'll see that I'm NOT logged in to my Adobe account. I can't discern any pattern in how or when or under what conditions this will occur. It could be that it's happening while the system is being tweaked on the back-end; of course there's noway for me to know when that situation is occuring.Anybody else notice that? Anybody figure out a pattern for it?

Nah!

Hello! I would just like to say that I realy like the new design! Im going to use this forum alot more now that tha visuals are up!keep on going adobe!

There, I said it.I imagine many of you have monitors that wrap around your design stuios but I bet not many of 'em go floor to ceiling!  If you're on a small monitor that title in the first post can take up a lot of space.RegardsMartin

Hey,I am trying to update a page on my website and it won't allow me to. I have the Dreamweaver software interacting with the FTP server, etc. What is going on wrong? Please respond as soon as possible.Thanks.

What are the reasons that nntp access was discontinued? As a direct result a lot of long-time, knowledgable users seem to have abandoned the forums especially on the Macromedia side - nntp was just so much quicker let alone the possibilities to filter and quickly save topics as plain text. This is more than a bit disappointing. Please, consider bringing back nttp access.

So when is this going to get fixed. I wasn't even gone an hour and the actual login takes forever.

I inadvertently included my phone number in a post and would like to remove it. I was able to edit it out in a post that didn't have any replies, but there's still one that I don't have the option to edit. Can you suggest a remedy? Thanks.

In this discussion:http://forums.adobe.com/message/1898907 Two images I've uploaded are stuck as "QUEUED". They display in web pages in browsers ok.What's the problem?

Adobe Forums admin folks (John C, perhaps?), please have mercy on your users and make Verdana the default for posts, and not frickin' Arial. Verdana was designed for on-screen reading, while Arial was barely designed for reading at all. I'll set this same paragraph again in Verdana below, so you can see the difference. Blank lines in text pasted from the clipboard into a message get deleted when the message is posted (at least with IE 7 and 8).  Some use cases in which this is quite annoying:- Copying text from some other Web page, e.g. a FAQ.- Composing your message in another, more civilized text editor.

Is anyone having the same problem I am? I clicked the link to start receiving email notifications, thinking I'd receive an email to alert me to the fact that someone had responded to my post, and when suddenly my email account was inundated with dozens of threads that had nothing to do with my particular question, I returned to the Forums website, turned off notifications... but it didn't take. It just won't allow me to stop receiving email notifications. Flaw in the programming. Not the first time I've had problems on an Adobe web page. For having produced the best software in the world, they sure don't know how to use it correctly.ThanksTice
