Is this going to happen every day? Both yesterday and this evening, about 5:00 PM Eastern time, the whole site went offline briefly for "scheduled maintenance." It didn't last long, but it wasn't very graceful, either -- just a buch of page load errors at first. What's up?Peter
I'm spiked at 99% CPU most of the time on this terrible crap forum--even just from moving the mouse over links.I didn't complain about all the extra frilly stuff many people seemed to have a problem with, but...poor performance? That's a deal breaker. This is why JAVASCRIPT, and "Jive" sucks. This is unusable for me on IE 7... come on now. (???) Only took about 15 minutes to get here and post this...Here's an idea Adobe: go ahead and create a FLEX forum if you want fancy fancy RIA type functionality and ditch this Ajax/JS hack trash. It's not like you don't have the expertise in Flex here... and it could use the demonstration and publicity.
I shut off the email and I'm still getting it. Enough already.I get enough SPAM with having my mail box full of the crap from this forum. When I want to read the forum I will come to the forum. This is another deal breaker that is driving me away. These Jive guys should be shot.
As with the preview version of the forum, the following is the case:From within a topic/discussion, I have some choices. Two breadcrumb links, Discussion and Forum Comments.A link called 'Up to Discussions in Forum Comments'.The first and third of these choices take me to a page with a list of topics/discussions. There is an Overview tab I can click to reveal the sticky topics.Fine, but why two links? The other one, the breadcrumb 'Forum Comments' appears to take me to the same place, with the same list of discussions - except that the Overview tab is already open.I think the boxes on the right also swap places, Sub-forums being above or below Actions.Try as I might, I cannot see the logic in this navigation system.
I just noticed that some of my attachmnts from an email message didn't arrive but were silently dropped. I don't think silently dropping them is a very good policy, because people will attach harmless documents like install.log to a message and refer to that attachment. That is bound to add a lot of confusion.Apart from changing the silent dropping olicy, can you allow the following file types:.log.wsdl.ico.as.mxml.cfm.cfc
With the old forums I had my workflow automated as follows:1. Download all new messages to a folder per forum.2. Delete all messages from people in my kill file.3. Delete all messages from threads in my ignore filter. (This was a forward looking filter, so if I ignored a thread it did not just kill the messages downloaded until then, but I would also never see messages posted in that thread later.)4. Mark all messages from people in my ignore list as read.5. Mark all messages containing certain keywords (e.g. "free version" or "emacs" and "vi") as read.6. Mark all messages that are a response to a message by me (identifiable through the References header) as important. All of this happened automatically in the background before I even started reading, drastically reducing the noise and allowing me to prioritize messages that were directed at me and allowing for offline reading. And of course I had all sorts of hotkeys in my news reader so I could ignore a thread with just a "k", jump to
Logged out and back in on the old forum.(this forum) Followed the prompts to migrate account. However, when I log into the new forum my MM user name shows. Yesterday I was logged in to the new forum under my old name. ?
I spent many hours in frustration trying to log on to the forums last week. Finally, I was able to log on by some mystery but no such luck this week. Is there any way to use my old log in name so I can keep my history, record of my use with topics flagged normally that I have visited, or do I need to use this new moniker and basically start over? Thank You, Ken Ken Nielsen, forum user since 1997
Dumb question? In the NNTP group I'd be able to save a reply that I liked by simply dragging it to a folder in Thunderbird. How do you save a post in this forum short of copying and pasting? Thanks.
I am struck by the odd list of product forums listed at the entry point to the new forums (http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa). There are one-click icons that jump to the Flash Player, Acrobat, Flash, Photoshop Elements, Dreamweaver, Livecycle, Photoshop, Adobe Reader, ColdFusion, Flex, Acrobat Connect Pro, and Lightroom forums. I can understand the massively popular products like Flash, Adobe Reader, and Photoshop, but Livecycle, ColdFusion, and Acrobat Connect Pro? Why are those niche products elevated to such prominence, while flagship Adobe products like InDesign and Illustrator are buried in a drop-down menu? I wonder if these were just random selections by the web design team, or if they reflect a corporate emphasis on "new media" products over print design. If it is just a random selection of Adobe products, is there a way I can create my own jump list, or will I always have to dig through a labyrinth to find the forums that interest me most?
is it possible to set the default editor on a user by user basis? i'd like to use the html editor by default and only switch to the rich text editor when i have to...
I typed a few screen names and it always gave me errors, so then I just typed in some gibberish and Adobe accepted it. Now my name is gibberish and I's like to change it. How can I do that?
With the old forums (both webx and cfusion) I stayed signed in at work AND at homeAs far as I can tell, this forum trashes my cookie when I switch from one computer to anotherI first logged in at home with my morning coffee... came to work and logged in to check the forums for the products I use at workWent home... and I was not logged inNot a BIG deal, but is a small pita to have to log in at the "other" place when the cookie is trashed
If we have to have combined forums, can we at least get a couple of nice icons that people can click to insert into their post to show which OS it's for?Something like: or maybe? We're getting lots of confusion in the ID General forum, with people recommending SSE register fixes for Mac problems or "clear your caches" for Windows problems. If there was some icon people could insert right at the beginning of the message it might help.Actually it would be even better if it could be inserted into the subject line!
So I am trying to give these new forums as much a chance as possible. I am really feeling the loss of the NNTP news feed as I have discused elsewhere.E-mail is serious lacking in that the messages are largely unintelligable without real improvement. My next step was to look at the RSS feeds and I am presented with 6 choices with only their titles and links to go on to disgingish between options. So what do I want to use and why would a user choose 'All Content RSS Feed" over the "Discussion Messages" or maybe the "Discussion Threads"?Is this discussed somewhere?RSS FEED OPTIONSAll Content RSS Feed:Announcements:Discussion Messages:Popular Discussion Threads:Discussion Threads:Unanswered Threads:
I foolishly assumed if I was following a thread over email I'd be able to reply to the email and have it appear. ya know, the really useful feature we used to have ? Sadly: .............. I must say that, overall, I like the new forums a lot. But, in the old forums I was able to view a list of all of the threads that I have commented in, regardless of whether or not I started thread. I always used this to see if someone commented back.In this forum the only way for me to do this is to allow it to subscribe me, so that I get emails when the thread updates. I don't mind this, except that I can only check my email while at work, and I like to post in the evening as well. Can we get a method to see these things, so that I can stop parsing through my actions and history to find the different threads I am participating in?Also, is there a way I can change the email that is attached to my account? I would prefer to switch to my personal email address, and don't want to create a new account for this if I don't have to.
I must be blind - where is the option to alter the email address I see on http://forums.adobe.com/edit-profile!input.jspa?userID=26015 and that I guess is used to send subscription-based email ?
I emailed http://forums.adobe.com/message/1875626#1875626 at 07:45 CEST.My email server log shows it was handed of the email server of theseforums (mail.sgaur.hosted.jivesoftware.com) at 07:46 CEST:Apr 8 07:46:04 smtp1 postfix/smtp[27892]: B5A5EF0070D:to=<discussions-community-general-forum_comments@mail.forums.adobe.com>,relay=mail.sgaur.hosted.jivesoftware.com[209.46.39.252], delay=6,status=sent (250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 6C49B240811E)These forums show the message as 08:03 CEST.Over the past week email processing used to be pretty much instantaneous. And normally I am the first to say that if you want instant communication you should just phone somebody. But the problem is that these forums have a time critical component because I have to log in to the web interface to mark a message as a question. For that to work, the import process must have a predictable response time.JochemPS This message is sent at 10:20 CEST. Let's see how late it shows up.-- Jochem van Dietenhttp://joch
OMG....This place just plain stinks!!! You guys making this happen just don't get it. To he** with you!!!

Greetings, when I am in a given forum, I need the ability to search that perticular forum; not the entire Adobe site and not all forums; just that particular one. How can I do that?Thank you
In the "English New Forums Discussions" forum, I just saw this comment by Dorothy K:If people what their comments seen, and more likely answered, the main comments section that the forum staff and developers are watching is at http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_commentsreferring to this forum. If this is official ( Dorothy is not tagged as "Adobe" ), then please fix the entry on this page:http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspaSub-section "General Forums"It has links for both "Forum Comments" and "New Forum Discussions", where the latter should apparently be "deprecated" while IMO it at least sounds "newer".Please also leave a message whether we should re-post here Dirk
Anyone noticed? When you get a new PM, 'Your Stuff' glows orange. Very pretty - but can we get the important stuff fixed too, please?
I can deal with every other thing in regards to this forum except for the abysmally slow speed. No qualifying arguments necessary, and I steadfastly refuse to be polite about my feelings:This is unmitigated bu\\sh¡t, and if it can't be remedied so as to approach the speed of the old forums, you guys have reached dizzying new lows in the race for corporate cøck-ups.
