Question

Is there no way to offer Photoshop to the disabled?

I'm not going to rant and swear like I imagine most people do, that solves nothing. I just have a simple question. Is there no way for Adobe to offer Photoshop CS6 at reasonable prices to the disabled? I tried asking a customer service person in chat but they essentially told me its not their problem. And they noted how wonderful photoshop was as if to rub it in my face.

I realize their are amazing artists that use this, who also must have decent amounts of money. But I never went to college nor am I some super master at Photoshop (I use it at my friends). However I am disabled and unable to work. I barley have enough money to survive on. So naturally a program like Photoshop would work great for me so I could work from home mostly editing pictures, correcting pictures and even doing some art. This is the same thing I said the customer services too.

As stated I know Adobe wants to make money. But don't you think you would make more if you offered photoshop at a reasonable price for people that arne't exactly well off? Its been shown time and time again that even if you lower a price on something, you end up making more because of the quantity of people who buy it. If CS6 was about $200 I would buy it, no matter how long it took me to saved.

As it is, I am sad that Adobe seems to treat me like a leper for simply wanting a fair shot at being able to use the program. If Adobe would like to help the economy then lower the price so more people could have jobs in the field of media, photography, arts....etc. I am a pretty moral person, I don't steal, I don't like to be mean. But most of my friends use Photoshop illegally. I don't think they should be stealing it. And yet I will not be like them and the only one seeming to lose out is not Adobe or my friends... but me. The honest guy. >.<

I am not sure what kind of response I will get, I imagine it will either be a deletion of this question or a gang up of attackers against me. If that is the case then I am ok with that, I'm not here to fight. Just looking for some sort of light in what feels like an endless dark tunnel when it comes to trying to get Photoshop.

Have you taken a look at subscribing to Photoshop? It is available as a stand-alone subscription for $19.99 a month, or as a part of the Creative Cloud for $49.99 a month (which has ALL of the Creative Suite apps + more goodies).

It might end up being more affordable to simply purchase Elements as Teri mentioned, as it is a very powerful product, and is more affordable than Photoshop.

John T Smith's idea of a student edition is one way to get Photoshop at a significant discount.

I also suggest that you download a trial version of Photoshop Elements from http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html.

I think you'll find that Elements is a powerful program that can do everything you want and more. And the price is quite reasonable!

Terri's idea is the best. Photoshop Elements is not only a great program at a reasonable price, it is much easier to learn and can do more than early versions of Photoshop. If that price is still too high, there are some very fine open source and freeware programs available. Are they Photoshop, no, but they can produce great work in the right hands. To be honest, the tools are important, but not as important is the skill of the person that holds the tools.

As Rick mentions, this forum is for discussing the actual forums, themselves.

However, this FAQ Entry: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/898758?tstart=0 might point you in the correct direction.

Personally, I have been a bit underwhelmed by Live Chat, so you might wish to make direct, telephone contact with Adobe Customer Support (not Adobe Technical Support).

    Good luck,

    Hi there

Unfortunately you are asking the question in the wrong forum. This forum is where discussion occurs about the operation of the forums themselves. Hopefully someone will pop in to advise exactly where your discussion would fit. I might suggest trying the PhotoShop forum, but even there, the question is more along the lines of Adobe Policy than usage of PhotoShop. Additionally, I *think* PhotoShop may come in a Mac and PC version, and if so, likely there is a forum for each version.

In the mean time, you might try investigating the link below to see if you can find a better fit for your question. Just click the drop-down selector you will find on the page.

    Rick,

For many years, there WERE separate PS forums for Mac & PC. Those were combined about a year ago, into one X-platform forum.
