new here...need advice

hello, i have no knowledge about such software ( time ago have purchased elements 6 -was frustrated as I was able to download a picture, destroy it and thats it) need advice from someone here: i making ( by hand) collages ( mixed photo/parts of newspapers, pictures ect), would like to do that ( learn it online if possible) + brochure/expose/nice presentations in surreal way + use the software for daily work : web, emails, ect. What do I need? what software? Photoshop elements or other? Do you know some good online help? starting....
