Notification emails are really delayed

Last night I got a bunch of notification emails for posts. The emails are dated 27/11. In the worst case, the post was dated 19/11. In my notification settings, for the emails I actually have turned on, the setting is for immediate delivery. So there's something wrong with the email notifications being sent in a timely manner.
