Suggestion : editable posts

Hi

It's all in the title.

I just posted my first message and was surprised to see I couldn't change it after posting.

With all the online activity, it's difficult to spend time on one message. It seems much more convenient to just fire away and correct/add elements later. If one post author needs to add other messages to the initial post to correct mistakes and add crucial infos, it can quickly become confusing and tedious for everybody.

There's no way this wasn't considered before so I was curious why the option has been rejected, and to share my opinion as a newcomer.

Hi Dee,

Welcome to our Community. The ability to edit was being abused by spammers. When you've made enough posts, you will be able to edit. So far this is your second. In the meanwhile, you can ask a moderator to made the edits — either here or in the forum where you posted. Yes, this was discussed, and this is what staff decided.

This is absurd. What 'rank' do we have to 'achieve' to edit our own posts.
I really fail to see how a closed subscription only forum could be abused. Please provide a response that makes some sense.

Thank you, Jane. I was wondering the same thing. I have one idea; it may have been mentioned before, but I couldn't locate it: Perhaps we would be limited to a certain number of edits per unit of time, and/or a certain amount of edits total per post as new contributors. I believe that would serve both party's interests better. Relatedly, I would advocate for the auto spell check to work within this app. Either way, I think it would be more fitting if the tiers for enabling editing were objective and publically disclosed, similar to as they are for Apple's Community. It's pyschologically drainning to not know what we're aiming for. The point of making this place is to improve and innovate. If we are not as compelled to share, then we all suffer. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration on these items.

Adobe has given us a hard "no" to this and the volunteers cannot make policy changes. I see that you have five posts and the first was yesterday. If you need to make an edit, you can ask a moderator for assistance.
