After applying the various scripts and Adblock page elements blocking, the new forums look very, very good: <br /> <br />c <a href="http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1kh7PYdJTceOSrCTQRbaifku3nd7ke1" /></a> <img alt="Picture hosted by Pixentral" src="http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1kh7PYdJTceOSrCTQRbaifku3nd7ke1_thumb.jpg" border="0" /> <br />c Forum Index Page <br /> <br />c <a href="http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1415Q4LZA1vpwD2HcpwBMdXhf5WjU" /></a> <img alt="Picture hosted by Pixentral" src="http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1415Q4LZA1vpwD2HcpwBMdXhf5WjU_thumb.jpg" border="0" /> <br />c Forum Thread page <br /> <br /> No more avatars, no more "More Stuff Like This" cr@p, no more Community Experts labels, no more Popular Discussions, no more Top Participants, no more points ratings, no more total numbers of posts for each user, no more nonsense. <br /> <br /> My warmest thanks to Eric, Mark and Zenor, who provided the scripts and blockfilters for this excellent workaround.

Why can't they use a similar system to now. Where after the thread get unwieldy, it collapses to just showing the original thread plus the last 3 to 4 threads. With a button to show entire thread if needed.

The only advantage of that is, it takes you to the end rather than the beginning of a thread.

and I don't have much of a problem with the topic discussion itself, per se. i think - as others have mentioned, perhaps more than anything else, if not as loudly as some ;) - that missing the ability to jump directly to "last read for me" in a topic is going to be a real headache.

has anyone contacted jive to see if there's the possibility of a workaround for that one?

still a lot of wasted space on the index page. do we need the "last post" column? that forces 2 lines. i say lose that and beef up the font on the index list.

Here, page loading time is a matter for concern, and the additional processing required to strip out stuff from every page slowed things up further. Kind of like reconstructing the deck chairs on the Titanic using material from the hull below the waterline. Maybe your experience is different but you might think of using the Firefox "Hammerhead" extension before and after to check the page load times on your particular system.
