Uploaded Avatar Image "Pending"

Tried to change my avatar, but the new image I uploaded has a "pending" tag over it, and can't be selected. Foolishly, I thought deleting my current avatar image might "shake it loose" but of course it didn't, so I re-uploaded that image and now they are both marked "pending" and can't be selected. It seems obvious that the "pending" status is intended to be a temporary state, probably a product of measures to prevent people from using obscene images and so forth, but it's been days now, and I suspect my two uploaded images will remain in the pending state until someone on the other end intervenes. Perhaps there's some feature that has yet to be brought online following the recent upgrade.

Can someone please investigate? Thanks.
