When trying to post diverted back to login screen (?)

I don't use these forums very often.

I just spent an inordinate amount of time typing a question in one of the forums and when I clicked on the "Post" button at the bottom of the screen, I was immediately taken to the Login screen, which I filled in again, and could not find my original post listed, so I don't know what's going on.
