Why did my avatar default to a girl's head instead of a placeholder blue one? PLS FIX ASAP!!!

WTH? I just joined. Don't know what happened. I didn't even get to doing the avatar part. I don't have a pic / don't need / don't even want, an avatar, thank U very much.
