I inherited a RoboHelp project and realized instead of publishing the compiled project, they were simply copying any changed files to the server. I began publishing the project and our software program began throwing an error related to the whtopic.js file.Error: The value of the property 'onSetStartPage' is null or undefined, not a function objectURL points to the whtopic.js file contained in Web HelpThe coder added the bold line to the code, which seemed to solve the problem. gsPPath=_getFullPath(_getPath(document.location.href),_getPath(sPath)); if (typeof (onSetStartPage) != "undefined") onSetStartPage();My first question, of course, would be, what causes the error and how did the code update fix it. I also wanted to mention after reviewing WebHelp on the server, I noticed there are multiple instances of the whtopic.js file, as well as another instance of the WebHelp project nested in the original.
My company upgraded to RH11 (from RH9). Since the upgrade, when we generate webhelp, the search feature does not work. We run IE11 and WIN7. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
In RoboHelp 11, information types only work in Microsoft HTML output. In more recent versions of RoboHelp, do information types function in other types of output in addition to Microsoft HTML? I really don't want to use that output type. Thanks!Tim
Is there any other way to collaborate with SMEs for RoboHelp besides Adobe AIR. It seems to keep getting confused with the Captivate Reviewer, and says it's already downloaded, but every time I check I only have Captivate Reviewer.
How can I view RoboHelp files downloaded to SharePoint?
In my generated online help (using responsive HTML5)the user is halfway down a topic and follows a hyperlink to another topicHit the Backspace button (or any manually created Back button created in the layout)The user is returned to the top of the Topic NOT the place they originally selected the hyperlink (halfway down the topic).Has anyone else experienced this or know how it can be fixed?
The main menu with File and View tabs is missing and I cannot open pages or pods. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and restarting after each. I noticed my main menu was missing and I closed my toolbars and now I can't access anything. is there additional files I need to look for to uninstall manually so I get a clean install? When I open a project
I have created a help system in RoboHelp and then output from RoboHelp in the Oracle Help for Java format. On using Oracle Help for Java to view html files under MS Windows in the default ICEBrowser, the fonts look ragged compared to viewing the same html files in Firefox or IE. It appears that anti-aliasing is not being used. How can I turn it on?I found the following by googling:"http://stackoverflow.com/questions/179955/how-do-you-enable-anti-aliasing-in-arbitrary-java-appsIf you have access to the source, you can do this in the main method: // enable anti-aliased text: System.setProperty("awt.useSystemAAFontSettings","on"); System.setProperty("swing.aatext", "true");or, (and if you do not have access to the source, or if this is easier) you can simply pass the system properties above into the jvm by adding these options to the command line:-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on -Dswing.aatext=true"Would it solve this problem if the arguments shown above were passed to I
I am generating output for Oracle Help. When the language is set to English (UK) in the output wizard, the generation of the Full-Text-Search fails. The search tab is present in the output but there are no search hits. The output pod contains an error message "Invalid ISO 3166 country code". It turns out that RoboHelp tries to use a country code for the United Kingdom of "UK" where according to ISO 3166 it is "GB", hence the failure. This error occurs for no other country in the language settings, for example FI_FI works fine. I tried replacing UK with GB everywhere I could find in the installation of RoboHelp but it does not help. Setting the language of topics to "English (UK)" causes no problems, but to create output I have to overwrite it with "English US" in the output wizard.RoboHelp HTML 11.0.1.235 on Windows 7Oracle Help for Java version 4.2 supplied in "ohj-12.1.3.0.0". Is this a known bug? I cannot find any mention of it.
I created an output on my laptop (15 in monitor), and on that screen it looks as intended, with the TOC displaying on the left and the search bar on the top right. I expect, since it is responsive, that on a smaller screen, the TOC and search will shift according to the size of the screen. But when I look at it on a larger desktop monitor, the TOC is permanently minimized and the search icon is on the left. It looks as it would if I were viewing on a tablet. Is there a way to fix this? On a desktop monitor, I need the TOC to display and the search box to remain at the top of the screen. Display results are the same in Chrome and IE11On my laptop:laptop screen resolution settings:On my desktop:Desktop monitor screen resolution settings:
Hi All Trying to download Adobe RoboHelp 2015, i believe the firewall on our corporate network are blocking the download. Each time we try to download the package it just comes back with 'waiting'. we had a similar issues with updating Adobe Flash player, getting initialization error. I wanted to know if there is any Msi files for Adobe Robo Help the trial version, so we can install the package for our external client.Any help is appreciated
Have been provided with a new PC to replace the old one running win 7 Pro. This new one is running Win 8.1 Pro.Having installed RH10 and all the patches, and copied my project files across to the new PC, attempting to use the RH ScreenCapture program is a major problem. When I select Capture - Region ( most frequently used capture type) ScreenCapture is minimised (as expected), and after 500 milliseconds (default lag) the image of the screen to be captured is increased in size to about 150%. Now, I don't want to capture images that are 150% bigger than actual; capturing these images and then resizing is also not an option as the image quality becomes degraded too much.Adobe support have observed this problem on my system. They have had me try to disconnect the extended monitor - no change, they have played around with graphics properties, all to no avail. The only success was by changing the main screen resolution to its lowest setting (1024 x 768), which is not really a viable option.
Hi All,For the past year I have been working with Adobe Tech Comm Suite to build an online help system that is authored in FrameMaker and linked to RoboHelp as the help generation system. With the new year we switched to Tech Com Suite 2015 and overhauled our doc folder structure. The RoboHelp project and associated FrameMaker files were moved together into a new set of folders. Unfortunately this movement of files broke the file path linking between FrameMaker and RoboHelp in Tech Comm Suite 2015. The recommended solution that I found on the web is to right-click on the book file in RoboHelp, select Restore Link To FrameMaker File and browse to the new location of the missing FrameMaker book file, and then perform a Force Update All. The end result is that all of the topics included in my RoboHelp-constructed Index and TOC vanish and the HTML content formatting is impacted .No matter what I have done I cannot seem to find a solution to fix to maintain the integr
Our company is mandating that everyone update to Office 365.We've been using Office 2010 with RH 9 without issue. But does RH 9 work with Office 365?One of the writers on my team updated his system to Office 365 and got this error when he tried to generate printable output:Call me crazy, but Office 365 is definitely newer than Word 2000.
Should I upgrade from Robohelp 9 to Robohelp 11 or Robohelp 2015?Robohelp 9 Word is being used at Veterans Affairs. System Attributes: RoboHelp HTML V9.0 RoboSource Control 3.1 RoboHelp Server V9.0 WebHelp Pro 9.0.1.262
My customer has developed a web application that consists of a series of pages of forms. The web application can be accessed via laptops or smart devices (browser-based).Next to each form field, they want to embed context-sensitive help buttons (shown in the example below as question marks). The customer has specifically requested that, when the user clicks a help button, they don't want the user brought to a new tab in order to read the help topic. They either want the help topic to appear as a floating window on top of the existing tab, or somehow embed the help topic within the existing tab. Are either of these possible? To visually show you what I'm looking for, I made an example shown below. When the user clicked the help button next to the Comments field, a floating RoboHelp help window appears in front of the form. The user would then read the info in the window, and then close it (thus returning to the form).Again, is this possible in RoboHelp? If so, how? The biggest issue (in
Hello. I apologize if this has already been asked and answered; I tried a search with no luck. I am testing RoboHelp 2015 and am converting my RoboHelp 8 projects to do it. After converting an old project, when I open a topic select View Item, I receive this error:Whether I select Yes or No, the topic opens but I can't select any of the drop-downs to see the content inside. This doesn't seem to be a problem for the finished output after I generate the webhelpl, but I still need to be able to just view topics to see how they look.Any suggestions? Thanks very much!
Does RH2015 have a 'format painter' function?
I'm using RH2015. I have Office 2013 installed, although I have no intention of creating Word docs. I have built my project and successfully generated .chm files. However, now I need to generate a PDF. When I click on 'Printed Documentation' in the Output, I get a box that says: 'The parameter is incorrect'. I click OK and it pops again...OK again and now I get past it. I complete all the entries on the pages, but when I click (finally) to Generate, nothing happens. In the Print Document General window (the first one), none of the drop down options have anything in them. I select the Adobe PDF option, and uncheck the Word option and get the 'parameter' warning again...but OK clears it. I click Next...I see the TOC and Chapter Layouts as they are in my project...Next again, and I see the topics...but the Section Layout is basic. Do I have to completely reset all the topics into the section layout box? Why? I a
Using RH2015 I have located a Positioned Text Box over an image and configured a Trigger from text in content up page from the image to Show/ Hide the (effect) Positioned Text Box on click. The issue I see is the text box does not remain positioned relative to the image on which it is overlaid. Is the positioning of a Positioned Text Box relative to the Trigger in this case, rather than relative to the image as desired? I am using a Responsive HTML5 output so would like to have a solution that would flow relative to the image position and scale changes, remaining anchored.
Not able link to framemaker files in robohelp 11. That option is disabled.
Hi,when I link Framemaker documents that contain screenshots then the images generated in Robohelp are too small. I tried various import settings but without success so far. If I set the "size" setting to e.g. 150%, then the resulting images are larger, but totally pixled and unreadable. I also tried setting the size to 0pt as it has been suggested in some threads but to no avail. It seems that Robohelp resizes the images based on their dpi values in Framemaker. Simply enlarging them in Framemaker improves the quality of the imported images but of course destroys the Framemaker-layout.
We had a request today to translate our WebHelp from English to Spanish. I'm open to any suggestions/recommendations on how to go about this (e.g., features RoboHelp might have, resources I should read, etc.).The customer who wants the translation also wants both the English and the Spanish versions, ideally with the option to switch between either version at any time using a hyperlink.Ideas? Thanks!Tim
When I was using RH11, I was able to drag and drop a baggage file into the Table of Contents; however, RH 2015 won't let me.Anyone know why not? Is it possible?Thanx,Lon
Not sure what the difference is. I found this in the documentation:UpdateUpdates topics generated from the selected Word document. Only the topics that have changed are updated.Update AllUpdates all topics generated from all linked documents including all Word and FrameMaker documents. Because all documents are updated, including those that you edited in RoboHelp, exercise caution when you use the Update All option.Force UpdateOverwrites the current set of topics generated from the selected Word document. Use this option to force an update of the topics generated from the linked Word document after you edit the source in Microsoft Word. This option updates all topics including those that haven’t changed.Force Update AllUpdates all linked documents, including Word and FrameMaker documents, and overwrites all generated topics.Which begs the question - is "Force Update All" the only option that affects linked FM files? And why are the non-book files removed from my webhelp.hhc TOC when I s
