Hi: Using Dreamweaver 7 (though 8 is on the way) I'm providing content and some low-level design to a web site. The templates (style sheets?) are CFM, which I'm slowly coming up to speed on. I want to upload and link a large number of documents that will be available to viewers of the site. Over time, I'll summarize each document and provide a direct link. Initially, though, I'd like to just show the directory with the files shown and linked: "Index of /Publications" (for instance: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/RadarImg/) Security of the site won't allow the direct viewing of the folder. Can I create an index file that has a script that will automatically show all the files linked to open? (/Publications/index.cfm) -- or is there some easy way to do it? Thanks, George

I'm looking for a way to build a dynamic nested structure in cfscript using a for loop. Something like: <cfset MyStruct = StructNew()> <cfset MyStruct["A"] = StructNew()> <cfset MyStruct["A"]["B"] = StructNew()> <cfset MyStruct["A"]["B"]["C"]= StructNew()> <cfset MyStruct["A"]["B"]["C"]["D"]= StructNew()> <cfset MyStruct["A"]["B"]["D"]["R"]= StructNew()> The depth of the nested structure is unknown, 2 to 1000 and the A, B, C, D, R are all unknown. I have no problem creating the first struct MyStruct["A"], but can't seem to add the second + nested struct to the first dynamically in my loop. Seems like I want to concatenate each nested structure to the previous structure as I go. Any thoughts? <cfdump var="#MyStruct#">

I'm trying to get clustering going on two Windows 2003 server with CF7.01. I was able to create the cluster with no problem. Both instances are using J2EE sessions. I was also able to the connect a third Windows 2003 (IIS6) server to the cluster with the wsconfig. However, the cluster won't failover. I noticed that the jrun connector's jrunserver.store proxyserver is not being set. So I added in the appropriate info Example: Proxyservers=0.0.0.0:54001;0.0.0.1:54001 However when I restart IIS it clears it out back to Proxyservers= I'm guessing that when he ISAPI filter starts up it contacts the server to which it is bootstraped and then recieves a list of the current available jrun proxyservers and then writes that list to the jrunservers.store. That would be fine if it would leave my manually entered proxyservers. But now it seems that I'm a little stuck. Does anybody know if that is indeed how it works and why that would be happening. Is this a bug? Or I'm I just really missing

I have created a MC to be used as a button. It is generic and I customize it per instance. It contains an onRelease event handler. I am confused as to what approach I can take within the MC's onRelease statement that would allow the parent to 1> know the MC has been clicked & 2> know which instance of the MC has been clicked (without putting onRelase code for each instance at the parent level). I was trying the following... myMC.onRelease = function() { _parent.clickedButton = myMC._name; }; ...but I couldn't figure how to make the parent listen for a change to clickedButton. How can I listent for a variable change? Is there a better approach? thx, Nathan

I have a movieclip in my libeary that i want to pop up how can i do this.

Hi the function duplicateMovieClip gives me a real hard time. I dynamically load certain parts of my application using the MovieClipLoader, then (when the external movieclip is completely loaded and intialized) I try to duplicate this movieclip using the duplicateMovieClip function, but it doesn't work. Using the function on a movieclip that has been created at design time or using createEmptyMovieclip work, but not with the externaly loaded ones. Is this some kind of security problem? How can it be solved. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance Paul

I have two completely separate .swf files being loaded into a web page. MovieA.swf is set to play on load and movieB.swf is set to be stopped on load. On the click of a button within movieA, I'm trying to get movieA.swf to tell movieB.swf to go to a certain frame and play. I've been searching on Google for hours now and not really found anything that works. Within movieA I've tried the following: on (release) { gotoAndPlay("_root.movieB", "15"); } OR on (release) { gotoAndPlay("movieB", "15"); } When I do this it just seems to play movieA. Note I also haven't found a way to "name" a movie. So I'm just calling the file name (movieA.swf) and I realize that's probably not right. It seems like it would be a common thing to do... anyone have any code that might work? Thank you, Raym

I have a static site in Japanese that is working fine in Dreamweaver. I'm trying to add a database connection with php/mysql, but the connection between my page and the database is garbling the text (moji bake) in both directions. I'm using UTF-8, both on the page, and in the database. (I tried with SJIS but that only gave me a different kind of moji bake). I can enter Japanese text directly into the database without any problem, but that text gets garbled when I read it on the page, and the text submitted by the form also gets garbled going into the database. This seems to be a fairly common problem, looking at other unanswered posts in this forum. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Daniel Sofer / Hermosawave Internet

Hi. I have several Movie Clips on my project's library and I need to retrieve their properties in order to assign them to certain variables. at a given point I will attach those MCs to the stage, but I needed their widths, heights, etc. before, in order to calculate the positions where I'll attach them and other MCs. So what I need to know is if there is a way to retrieve those properties directly from the library, perhaps using linkage ids or something of the kind, without needing to have the MCs attached. Thank you in advance.

Hello there, I am totally green in web development. my goal is to, for the user will input a date range from and to and will out put the records in the intranet when they press a button. However, the good news is: I have experience in programming. I have written applications for desktop in VB>NET and I understand RDBMS /sql concepts . But CF and WEB development is new to me. My current projects involves in connecting to DB and testing it. (it works fine) And outputting reports by to a intranet page. (records) i need help on how to start this asap. I will even do some practice at home. Tools I have at work • Development server(test) • Home site. • Toad for db connection. • Html reference guide • Cf dummies book. How can start my projects. (ex. Create cf, outputpage?) seriously, I am new to this. Thanks.

I get an unexpected result when using cfqueryparam with list="yes" and null="yes" using CF 7.0.1 and MSSQL 2000. When i run this code: <cfset arguments.userIds = ""/> <cfquery datasource="dsn"> select id from users where id in (<cfqueryparam value="#arguments.userIds#" cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" list="true" null="#not listLen(arguments.userIds)#"/>) </cfquery> It throws an error: Error Executing Database Query. [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Line 3: Incorrect syntax near ')'. SQL: select id from users where id in () If I remove list="yes" from the cfqueryparam tag, it works fine and sends "select id from users where id in (null)" to SQL server (which is a valid statement) and the page loads successfully. It appears that with list="yes" and null="yes", it does not send the "null" as I would expect like it does when list="no". I cannot find any documentation on using null="yes" with list="yes", so I can't tell if this is intended functionality

Hi, I am designing a page that has a left menu and middle text section. the client wants the top and left stay in screen all the time and middle section, which is a long text, to be scrollable and moves up and down with no effect on left and top. and the left menu links should make the middle text jump to the right section of it. I know how to use frame and know to use the anchors. but I don't know how to make both work together, or if it is possible this way. or I might need Javascript for the whole thing? I appreciate all your help.

I am using CFFILE to copy a file to a TEMP location and then using CFHEADER and CFCONTENT (with deleteFile set to "yes") to start a download of a file (from the TEMP location) and delete it when download finishes (or is aborted). My question is this: what will happen if multiple requests are made simultaneously for the same file? Is this gonna be a problem? If so, what's the workaround (if any)?

Hi, if I would want to test and start up a cf pages at my home PC ( practice) What do I have to do/have?

I am moving our site to CFMX7 and have created an application.cfc my question is do all application variables have to be set in the application.cfc. I have application variables that are not set here but when I go to another page and do a dump of my appliction variables only the ones that are set on the application.cfc show up. For example I store some queries in application variables and on the page that calls the queries it check to see if the application variable exisits if not it will then run the query and save it as application.queryname. --- but it doesn't look like this works in CFMX7 Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on a number of software simulations that have audio narration attached. I've had a request for a button to mute the audio. Is this possible?

I am testing with an Access MEMO field. My problem is that when I want to enter multiple paragraphs into the field it does not let me. When I hit enter to go to another paragraph it leaves the input box. Can this be done (multiple paragraphs in memo field) with coldfusion?

Hi All, I'm having a problem plotting a clip with AS2 onto the stage based off an XML. I think its looping thought the xml fine but for some reason its not plotting all the clips on the time line... So what I'm trying to do is plot a clip on a line based off its <note_position> and <note_height> which it does just fine. But its not plotting all the <note> nodes... it plots 2 <note> clips from <line tName="Name-1" color="0x336633"> then it plots 1 <note>clips from <line tName="Name-2" color="0x333366"> then it plots 2 <note>clips from <line tName="Name-3" color="0x663366"> what it should do is plot all the <note>clips from <line tName="Name-1" color="0x336633"> then plot all the of the <note>clips from <line tName="Name-2" color="0x333366"> and last but not least plot all the of the <note>clips from <line tName="Name-3" color="0x663366">... So all in all what it is doing is plotting 5 <note&g
