I am using CFCONTENT to display an Excel file after a person clicks on the row in CFGRID. The code below is the code I am using: <cfset filePath = "d:\Inetpub\OpptyAttachments\#getReport.oppID#\#trim(getReport.attachName)#"> <cfset apptype = #Right(getReport.attachName, 3)#> <CFHEADER NAME="content-disposition" VALUE="inline; filename=#Trim(getReport.attachName)#"> <cfif (apptype IS 'xls') or (apptype IS 'csv')> <cfcontent type="application/vnd.ms-excel" file="#Trim(filePath)#" deletefile="No"> </cfif> When I try to open the Excel file I get the following error in IE: Action canceled Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable. If I refresh the browser the file dialoge box opens up. This error is just for Excel files, I am not having this problem with text, pdf or images. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I used Rick's Tips -n- Trix to open an external .chm pointing to a specific topic. I hope I'm correct in assuming the topic should appear in a new instance of the viewer. I followed his guidelines and created a shortcut command... * Program to run when shortcut activated = hh.exe * Program parameters = ms-its:voipgenerators.chm::/sip001.htm I receive an error message when I click the link that says...Cannot open the file ms-its:voipgenerators.chm::/sip001.htm Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm running on my desktop right now. Thanks, Jane

I'm playing an .FLV from a server using MediaController and MediaDisplay components with Flash 7 player. The MediaDisplay needs the URL as one of its parameters but I'd like to use a variable as a URL so I can play whatever .FLV file I want as defined in Actionscript. I tried out several theories on this unsuccessfully. Any easy answers out there? In case it matters, the MediaDisplay is contained within a movie clip and the controller is on the root level. thank you

Hi, I have a CFM file where it should receive a URL query string make some process and then display the output as XML (it will be dynamic XML), so the XML is displayed on the browser , the XML is displayed as a text not a group of tags like any regular XML with + and - signs , is there anything should be considered?.

Ok, I have a login site that I'm working on. I have the login part working. I'm using session variable to make it work. I have application.cfm, a login.cfm page, a view.cfm page, home.cfm (which holds the main content). Ok, here goes. When someone tries to go to my home.cfm page, if session.loggedin is not set to true, they will get redirected to login.cfm. This is done by code I have in application.cfm. That works fine. But what I'm trying to do is to be able to have a link in my login.cfm page where I can view the contents of view.cfm and be able to go back login.cfm and not allow to see home.cfm without login in. But if I create a link in login.cfm to view.cfm I get looped back to login.cfm because of the code in application.cfm. here is the code in application.cfm: <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head> <body> <!--- Application.cfm ---> <!--

We have an web application that uses the url format http://url/project.htm#firstpagename where project.html is the Robohelp frameset and #pagename is the page to load in the main window. This works great except when you then try to load another help page by typing in the new url like http://url/project.htm#secondpagename. The second page never loads. However, If I enter the second url into a new window it loads correctly. Does anyone know how to get the second page to load without having to open a new window? Thanks in advance.

At the moment i am playing about but is there away to make a function inside the class access another function that is also inside the class like the code below. (it doesn't work)

I've created a lovely Flash Form that looks beautiful but I need to be able to send the values of the fields or a copy of the completed form to an email address when the user clicks the submit button. Can anyone point me to a tutorial or provide assistance. I've been looking for hours. This is my form tag.... <cfform method="post" action="mailto:name@company.com" name="contactTJG" preservedata="yes" preloader="true" format="flash" height="400" width="500" skin="halosilver" timeout="10"> This is my submit button tag.... <cfinput type="submit" name="BtnSubmit" value="Submit"> I feel like I'm missing a piece which will collect the fields and then a function to make the button work but I have no idea how to go about doing it. Thanks,

Newbie needing help please. Following the ColdFusion MX 7 Getting Started tutorial, from the Studio 8 package (so this is Developer version, if that makes a difference) I get stuck when I am instructed to click on the RDS log-in link in the Dreamweaver Database Panel, after testing the site's server. I get the error "The server name or address could not be resolved. Possible reasons: 1. The URL specified for the site's testing server is incorrect: http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/gettingstarted/tutorial/ 2. The testing server may be incorrectly configured (for example ColdFusion may not be running)." Server test says it is OK. I checked to see if jrun.exe is running, I am assuming that is at least one way to see if CF is running, and it is. I can log into CF Administrator and have established an password for RDS on-line, and I was able to add cftutorial.mdb while in the administrator. I am running WinXP. I have been able to go on in the tutorial to use the cftutorial.mdb in the sample in

Dear Expert, How to freeze background i have a single frame swf (1000x500) with buttons all over. clicking on the buttons will loadMovie into a movieclip same size as stage (1000x500). Apparently, the oringal swf is still active and will still react to mouse overs and presses. How can i freeze the background so that mouse events are ignore in the background and focus is only on the forground movieclip? How to scroll a movie clip or content with picture and text I searched high and low, but looks like my search terms are all in the wrong direction. I couldn't find any tutorial that teachs that. for one, i'm using version 7.2. Basically i want to feature a "cast and crew page" that will be loaded into the Movieclip as described above. now, i've got to be able to scroll the pictures of the cast and crew and their description. Flash help only teaches scrolling for dynamic text. The rest i don't understand.. can someone please help? Best regards, Jake

Using ASP and Access - I'm making a listing of organisations using repeated regions. Some require a link to their website, others don't. The code I'm using is fine when an organisation has a web address. However, those that don't still get the text "Website" linked, but missing a URL as the relevant data field (orgWebsite) is empty. I need to remove the linked word and the empty <a> HTTP://</a> that is rendered when a field is empty. Ideally I want it to continue behaving as it does when a URL is present on the database but leave no code if absent. I'm fairly sure that this means the <A HREF= and the "Website" text should be contained within the ASP code but none of my attempts have worked. Appreciate any assistance on this.... Thanks

var t3 = "Hello world"; var tn = 't'+_currentframe; //_currentframe now is iqual 3 trace(tn); tn shoud be "Hello world", but I'm getting that tn is equal to t3. Thanks in advance

dear all, after upgrading most of our servers from cf5 to CFMX7.1, it is now time to start working on some performance strategies for the upgrades. currently we went with the ODBC connector in CFMX for testing purposes. one of our server will occasionally lose the odbc and we have to reboot the server to get it rolling again. this leads up to the question of which is better for performace (speed, less process inducive) and realiability. ODBC or JDBC with CFMX7.1 thanx sean

I am having a hard time with trying to find a good solution to searching on a ntext field. It is for resumes and the max 8000 on varchar wasn't large enough, so I had to switch to a text field. I just want to search on the field, but it takes forever and times out most of the time. Even with a "RequestTimeout" The query looks like this: SELECT DISTINCT u.UserID, u.Fname,u.Lname,u.Email,u.DateRegistered,u.Telephone, u.user_type FROM Users u, E_Resume er WHERE er.UserID = u.UserID AND u.RC = #VARIABLES.RC# AND er.resume LIKE ('%#LCase(FORM.keyword)#%') I was going to try to use Full-Text searching, but so far the ISP hasn't been able to let me create the "catalog" because of permission issues. I tried creating a view, but it doesn't make it faster. I haven't found a way to index, because it is a "text" datatype. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

With RoboHelp ver7.0 and using Win2000 opening the .mpj results in: "Open project was cancelled or RoboHelp was unable to load database" When I try to "create a new project" then press "finish" the application crashes. This used to work on the system. Tried loading RoboHelp on a WinXp box and get the same crash. Any suggestions? Renaming the .mpj to .mdb allows me to use MS Acess and view info. Deleting the .mpj and using the .hhp was no help. Permission on the directory are fully open and its on a local drive.

Previously, when I have generated a CHM file, I have been using a hidden See Also control with a text link for "related topics". In WebHelp this does not seem to work. Is this correct, or is it in any way possible to use a text link in this way with WebHelp? Regards, Rannveig Østevik

I am using the ARRAYLEN feature to count the child elements but that generates an error. How can I get an accurate count of the <ALIAS> element in this XML so I now how many times to loop through that set of elements? Thanks
