Moving Fire with the "wind"

I've create a fire effect using particle world, various blurs etc... but of course if i animate it around the screen it stays the same upright look. Is there a good effect (some kind of distort) that I could apply to the composition so that i could make it wave/bend as though a breeze was moving it? I've tried a few distort effects with pretty poor results.

Try CC Bend It. Crop the Flames to a apre-comp, apply the effect, pin the bottom, then let the top wobble around with a Wiggle expression or whatever. An alternative would be Bezier Warp. Add a Turbulent Displace effect after the bending to disguise the stretchy edges this will produce.

When i try to pin it it autotraces which leaves behind a blackout line of my fire and then the whole flame moves with the bend instead of staying where i pinned it.

I'm not certain why you're using autotrace in the first place.  Please explain.
