Stroke Effect brush size doesn't change relative to camera position

I'm using the Stroke Effect to reveal text, creating the appearance of writing. As the camera pushes in, the text becomes larger (obviously) but the brush size for the stroke effect remains the same, making it only reveal a small part of the text.

I've looked for expression to link the brush size to the camera position, but I've had a hard time getting one to work.

Any advice on this issue is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Aaron

Correct answer Rick Gerard

Use a track matte instead of a stroke on a text layer. It's a much better idea.

Make sure that both the text layer and the matte layer are 3D. Simple as that. I would also use a Shape Layer Path + Trim Paths instead of a stroke on a mask. It's easier and both the text and shape layer are not dependant on scale.

Thanks for your reply!

When I precompose the text layer with the stroke effect, as the camera zooms in, the precomped text gets blurry. How do I zoom into the text, with the stroke effect, without the text getting blurry?

Create composition with you text. Make it and the text as large as they need to be. Use the stroke effect in this comp. now nest this comp in your camera comp.
