Is there a way to save out/export vector art from Flash CC to open as vector art in Illustrator CC?

Let me say that the import of illustrator files works pretty well. And that's a really good point.

But there is a real lack of export from Flash CC to illustrator.

Hope it is in the way of being corrected. Or reimplemented.

Yes Alesclandre , we are looking into Flash-Illustrator workflows for the next update and we will have a vector export from Flash which could be imported into Adobe Illustrator.

Im trying to look at this workflow and came across this here http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/customer-success/pdfs/zgm-cups-case-study.pdf

in the description on their workflow, they talk about it here "The agency’s Adobe Creative Cloud for teams membership gave all employees access to the full range of creative tools and services by Adobe. The team used Adobe Flash Professional CC to illustrate the site, and then took the drawings into Adobe Illustrator CC and converted them to EPS files. Adobe Photoshop CC was used for shading before taking the files into Adobe Edge Animate CC for animation."

So, it's now January 2014, I see that is nowhere near to be solved?!

How come it is even possible that nothing has changed?

To give a good example, imagine a small studio is making animated series in flash, and then it needs to print out dvd's covers, posters and a lot of merchandise with the characters of the show. And that is vital for the studio to make it on the market, to be able to deliver the product to the client and so on. Thanks to Adobe here it turns out it's completely impossible. The only solution is to trace everything manually dot by dot in Illustrator, which consumes an inmense amount of time and effort.

So you would have to loose money, time, people's resources because of that.

This is an act of an awful disrespect for the clients who pay a considerable amount of money for the product. Moreover, not doing anything for over six month after the issue's been reported, how can it even be serious?

you can save flash files out as .fxg format and import them into illustrator. another alternative although I admit doesnt utilise CC is to open up an older version of Flash CS4-ish and export out to pdf and then again import thru illustrator. I have  used both methods and have no issues to report.

there have been a long line of questions on how to do this flash to illustrator art questions and has been covered numerous times throughout the forums. If nothing else please look up Joshua Davis, Brendan Dawes and the ground breaking work they contributed to the Flash community on how to do just this type of thing.

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with a proper walk through hand held answer.

hi, yes you can save a .fxg in the older flash versions, but this option is removed completely form CC, that's the main issue over here.

Oh man, you had me all excited there for a second idomart! That would a genius solution if Adobe hadn't taken Print OUT of Flash. It's kinda like they're doing it on purpose.

CS6 is not a problem : you can export as image and then select FXG. It works very well.

CC IS a real problem : there is absolutely no export to a vector format.

There was a response in July that this was going to be implemented. It's now October :-)

@gataviano - Not only was the response in July, but it said "we are looking into Flash-Illustrator workflows for the next update and we will have a vector export from Flash which could be imported into Adobe Illustrator." We've had an update since that post and it did not include any such functionality.

Yeah, I was pretty sure there had been updates since then as well. Would be great if it was rolled out soon. I guess we're at Adobe's discretion :-)

At our workplace, we were frustrated with Flash CC but we figured out Adobe still lets Creative Cloud subscribers download CS6.

Log in and then go here:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/flash

Then look for the dropdown under the header "In This Version" and switch the dropdown to CS6.

CS6 exports to fxg, among other things prior to useful artists' features being scrapped or re-made to an alpha state.

This is the answer right here. Thank you very much SortOfSmart!

Download Flash Professional CS6 as he/she described. It is free for CC subscribers and does not interfere with Flash Professional CC.

    Hi James ,

You can try https://github.com/davebelais/Extensible/blob/master/Javascript/Extens ible/SVG.jsfl which creates an SVG formatted image for your artwork. However , this is a third party extension and there might be scenarios which are not handled in this. For more info you can also check the forum post - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5498364#5498364

Further , we will have vector export from Flash as one of the features for our next major update.

    Thanks and Regards,

I loved the FXG format, I do all my vector drawing in Flash and FXG was a breath of fresh air to me because it exported everything perfectly. Including, finally, after many years, the gradients. Now I find it is gone, I am heatbroken :-)
