Adobe Bridge CS6 will not open

I intalled PS CS6 yesterday only to find that Btidge does not open. I've searched for answers since then and have yet to find any. I've reinstalled it just to see if that would make a difference, but it hasn't. I'm currently running Windows 7 64bit. Photoshop runs great, the only problem is with Bridge, and apparently I can't get any help from Adobe until tomorrow

Correct answer ChunXiaYang

I couldn't connect to your ftp server for some reason, so I attached to my email reply to you.  The dmp is only about 1.5 MB.

Let me know if you need more.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks mjw5997 for sending me the dmp file! We have checked it and found that this is a Brige code bug.

This launch issue happens when installing Bridge CS6 on a machine with Bridge CS2 installed.

We can fix it, but I am not sure when the fix can be released. Currently, we have a workaround: create an empty folder in C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\.

Thanks all for the information!

Best Regards,

Chun Xia

Found the work around answer. Start Task Manager - go to Processes - find Bridge cs6 - click 'end process'. Bridge will now open. I have to do this every time to use Bridge - but at least it works again. (win 7/ 64 bit)

Mac Mountain Lion Adobe CS6 fully updated as of December 11 2012. Bridge will not launch and has never launched with this setup (MacBook Pro Retina Display)

I have only been able to launch Bridge if I startup with a fairly blank user account, not my regular setup. Any thoughts about what might be mucking it up in my usual account?

I have no clue how Bridge did muck your system up but in the before Lion and ML period this usually was solved by performing an Archive and Install from your original OS install disk. This provided a back up of your old user library and created a fresh one while all applications and files stayed on your system (although you should first make a back up of all important files for security) and took not more then half an hour. While I believe this is still possible but then you have to download the OS again from the App Store and create an install DVD your self (try and Google this for detailed info).

But I would first start with a Check and Repair permissions using Apple Disk Utility (in the application / utilities folder) and try if that solves this problem.

Could you report back if the permissions repair did work?

Repairing permissions did not help.

HAve you reset the preferences?  Hold down Ctrl key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.  Say yes to all 3.

A reinstall will not affect this file.

Also, try launching Bridge from Photoshop.

Thanks but I've tried that. That seems to be the only solution I've found online, but nothing opens. I hold ctrl+click on Bridge 64bit in the start menu, then the hour glass appears for a couple of seconds, but nothing else happens.

Starting Bridge from Photoshop doesn't seem to work either. I get the hour glass then nothing... :/

If you tried the shortcut icon on desktop try the Bridge.exe in Programs.  Try both 32 bit and 64 bit programs.

Did you get this from Adobe?

If reset program does not work you are either doing it wrong or something wrong with program.  THe reset window should pop up in a few seconds.  You said you pressed and held the Crtl key so sounds like you are doing it correctly.
