Clara17 do you receive this error message when launching Dreamweaver or when trying to install from the installation media?  What version of Mac OS are you using on your new Macintosh?

This is as I'm trying to install from the original disk.  I previously ran this same DW on a MacPro.  I'm running OS 10.7.2.

Clara17 I would recommend copying the contents of your install media to your computer and try installing then.  The error seems to indicate the installer is having difficulty locating needed files.  If you receive an error message when copying you might also want to try copying on another computer to ensure their is no issues with the opitical media drive.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I copied all the files off the install CD onto my harddrive. No problem there. I tried to install by double clicking on the Setup.app. It initilizes, then gives me the same Startup error that the required resoures are missing. Should I call Adobe? Do they give free support for something like this?

No our support teams no longer support Creative Suite 3 products unless there are activation issues.  Did you use any type of migration assistant from your old Macintosh to your new Macintosh?

I migrated from my laptop and DW was only on my desktop. I erased my desktop and gave it to my son. Just a while ago, I tried to install DW on my laptop(MacBook Pro running the latest software). I got farther than I did on the iMac. It seemed to be installing and then asked me to insert APE 6 to continue. I didn't have 6, but I have ver 9, which I tried. It didn't work. I tried it all a second time, and got the same negative results. Thanks, BTW, for your suggestions so far.

Clara17 you can try the Creative Suite cleaner tool to see if that helps.  I am not sure though what the APE6 which is was asking you to insert is?  Did you abbreviate that or was that what the installer specifically asked for?

It specifically asked for Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and I used to have it, but probably tossed it and I have ver 9. Is there any way I can deactivate previous computers online?

Jeff, I had another idea. I went to my Time Machine backup and was able to install DW. I entered my Ser #, but it said that I had too many copies of DW already. Presently, this is the only one I have. Perhaps I neglected to deactivate DW on other computers. I've given away all but my latest two computers. What do you suggest?

Activation errors are fairly straightforward and would not be giving you an error such as you are experiencing.  We did have installation issues with time machine volumes in the past although I seem to recall that being around Creative Suite 2 and not Creative Suite 3.  Searching through our knowledgebase for your error message has also not revealed any results.

I would try the cleaner tool and then also perhaps try dismounting the Time machine volume while trying to install to see if it might be detecting another copy?
