LR 6.14 and Sony RX100 V Support

Hi there-

I currently use the standalone LR6 (and have been using LR for over 10 years). I recently purchased a Sony RX100 V (or M5). I upgraded my LR to 6.14 (the latest/last version) and it does not recognize those files. I have checked, and as early as LR 6.8 should recognize M5 files. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? My understanding is that by upgrading LR that all the RAW files should also upgrade, or do I need to do another step?

Thanks,

Yes, you need Lightroom v6.8, so v6.14 should work

    per

    Cameras supported by Camera Raw

but, is it perhaps RX100 VA or VI?

Workaround is the free Adobe DNG converter, currently at v11.1

    Adobe Digital Negative Converter

I have the same problem with RX100VA and LR 6.14. After searching in internet, I have found a workaround. If you change the camera model id in the ARW file to rx100v, LR 6.14 can then import it

    1. download exiftool

    https://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

    2. run following command

    exiftool -sonymodelid="DSC-RX100M5" -ext ARW -r <folder of ARW files>

And just in case, in LR, click on help, click on System Information, and verify the version.

    Thanks for your reply.

I spoke to the camera shop. I had thought what I was getting was the Rx-100 V, but apparently at retail now all the cameras are now the VA (even though the camera itself is still marked V).

I understand from the supported list that VA is not supported in the final perpetual release.

    Thanks again.

You will need to use the Adobe DNG Converter (which is free) to convert the RAW photos from your camera into DNGs, which can be imported into Lightroom 6.14.
