Question

" "Adobe Lightroom 3" will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash. "

I know this issue has been reported for Acrobat Pro and other apps, but I haven't been able to find out anything that applies specifically to Lightroom 3. I recently installed OS X Catalina, and now get this message when I try to open Lightroom. Adobe has reported that Lightroom 3 WILL run on Catalina, but since the installer is 32-bit, you cannot re-install Lightroom 3 if it is deleted. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

"Solution: Right-click the application, select “Get Info”, and check the “Override Malware Protection” box. Enter your password and open the application."

And what are the risks of doing this? Why are you silent on this issue?

Certainly, you still have the drawback that you won't be able to install or re-install the software if that ever is necessary. What other risks are there?

Apple's plan was to block all old apps, so I think a recent Catalina update has been finding and blocking them. Originally the check was done only at the time of install, but they are probably looking to squeeze out any old apps which might have run without upgrading. Time to upgrade. Everything.
