Went to do a full backup of my PSE 2018 to a designated folder on an external hard drive. I have 50,000 plus files/photos and I get 32,768 backed-up then get this message BELOW, and no further backup accomplished!!! No idea what to do...? This is my first attempt at doing a full backup since my upgrade to PSE 2018.

Error Message:

Error encountered while writing files(s). C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog 1/FaceAnalysis/133491.5json

Any help getting past this greatly appreciated. I moved/upgraded from PSE 2015 to PSE 2018 about 6 months ago with no problems I could/can detect so far. Also I don't use the facial recognition part of pse at all for tagging.

thanks for any help.

    32,768... (not random = 2 ^ 8) May show a size problem.

The fact that the faulty item is a .json file is not expected, since you are not using face recognition.

Did you use the organizer menu : Edit >> Preference >> media analysis to 'reset face analysis' ?

Something you can do as a test.

Create somewhere a new backup folder from the Explorer, something like 'light catalog 2018'.

Copy the 'catalog.pse16db' database file from its current location (menu Help >> System Info) and double click on that copy to open the organizer with the new 'light' catalog. The main missing catalog items will be recreated including albums, stacks and version sets, but no face recognition; recreating all thumbnails will require several hours, but you can check if the catalog is ok. You can most probably use that light catalog to obtain a useable backup.

It also may be worth checking if the latest Windows update has not created a RAM problem in your case.
