Will Nikon D500 raw files open in Photoshop CS3 using a DNG converter?

Then your good to go.

Just use the adobe 9.10 dng converter to convert the D500 nefs to dng copies and those dngs should open with photoshop cs3 into camera raw 4.6

First change the Compatibility to Camera Raw 4.6 and later before converting.

After you convert the nikon D500 nefs to dng copies using the adobe dng converter, then yes the dng files should open in photoshop cs3.

Just mentioning in case you didn't know - you can have an up to date Photoshop for about 6% of the cost of the camera per year - $120 or so, against $2000 for the camera. It may be a false economy not to include software in the budget.
