I can't seem to open a 48 bit .tiff in Photoshop CC 2018. Program locks up when trying to do so. Anyone else have the same problem, or a solution?

What OS and version are you using? Help > System Info should tell you. You can even copy and paste the results in your reply.

Can any other program open the tiff?

Hi,

A "48 bit" tiff is just 16 bits/channel which is standard fayre for Photoshop.

Are you able to open other similar tiff files or is it just this one?

Does Viewer allow you to save as PSD? You can try that and see if Photoshop will open it.

I can suggest freeware Irfanview for this: IrfanView - Official Homepage - One of the Most Popular Viewers Worldwide

One possible way out of this is to download Irfanview and see if you can resave the tiff or convert it to PSD to see if it opens.

I can open other TIFF files. This is the first set of 48 bit that I have attempted. I can see the thumbnails using Windows Explorer. Can also open in viewer.

I can open other TIFF files. This is the first set of 48 bit that I have attempted. I can see the thumbnails using Windows Explorer. Can also open in viewer. I have increased my cache to 5 and memory usage to 85%, I have a large, SSD as my scratch disk. Did not make a difference.
