In photoshop cc when using Field Blur I no longer have a slider adjuster for the amount of blur. Any suggestions please?

Hi
Presumably you have clicked the arrow to make the slider visible?
If so, go to the right of the options bar at the top of the Blur gallery workspace and click the down arrow then reset Blur Gallery

Thanks for the reply to my problem. It would appear that my version of photoshop and yours are not the same.
As I go into Field Blur this is what I get -:
The image is blurred with no apparent way of adjusting the blur. The adjustment panel (top right) cannot be used at this stage but in any case the various icons will only adjust exposure, contrast, etc.
Any further suggestions please?
Thanks
Vince

Hi Vince,
It looks like all you've done is open "A2copy.jpg". Do you still have the original that is untouched?
To be able to edit the field blur, first make a Smart Object out of the layer. This is important. Then add the Field Blur.
Also, a .jpeg does not support Smart Objects, so save the file as a .psd, not a .jpeg.

Hi Jane Thanks for your time. My version is 14.1 x64
Attached is a screen dump after "Convert for Smart Filters" then attempting "Field Blur". The image is blurred as this is the immediate effect of (my version) of field blur. Upon loading into Photoshop the (original) image is not blurred. I would add that I did have field blur working with a slide adjuster and on a JPEG. Meanwhile I shall try a .psd file.

Hi
Version 14.1 - I can't understand why you would want to use the original CC version without updating to the many more recent versions.
As requested, please go to Help >System info and click the copy button. Then paste the info here. It will allow us to see the full info on screen size, GPU etc

Thanks - looks OK
So I just downloaded CC 14 to cheeck field blur in that older version and you are definitely missing part of the workspace.
I would reset preferences :

Hi Dave thanks for that I'll try it Will it revert to default settings?

Further.....someone already suggested Edit > Preferences > General // Performance Do you recognise these options? Will your suggestion
take me a similar route but automatically reset all preferences?

Resetting Preferences takes all the Preferences back to default. That is both the user set preferences that you see in Edit Preferences and some internal preferences which if corrupted can lead to unusual behaviour in Photoshop. The preferences are updated when Photoshop closes so an incorrect shut down can lead to such corruption.
I've just got used to resetting mine if I encounter an issue and quickly running through them manually to set any that I prefer to be different to the defaults. It is not the first step in troubleshooting but can often resolve issues. The first step in your case would have been to reset the filter - but you cannot get access to the dialogue to do that hence my advice.

Hi Jane Just tried exactly the same exercise with a .psd file ie Convert for Smart Filters, and Field Blur.......with exactly the same result and no slider adjuster. Is this a "mystery"?????

Field Blur is adjusted with the mouse and applied with Return or Enter.
!.) Hold down the mouse button and adjust the black circle. When the black circle is complete the blur level is at 100% 1/2 @ 50% etc.

Hi Bob Thnx for that................I can right click the spot(s) and press enter but all that does is blur the whole image with no adjustment............as my version stands at the moment

Hi Vince,
I'm working on memory, but I think Field Blur came out around CS6, but Smart Object with Field Blur came out a couple of versions later.
Go to Photoshop > About and tell us your version (Help > About if you are on Windows).

hi
Your screenshot shows the field blur filter open but you are missing the right side of the options bar and the dialogue panels that would normally be on the right.
What exact version of Photoshop are you using, what operating system and what size screen (in pixels). If in doubt this - please go to help, system info and click on the copy button. Then paste the info here.

Hi (again) Dave My version is 14.1 x64 Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Sorry not sure about the screen size but do know that I don't miss any data that should displayed be on the screen.
Sorry I can't tell you more. I would add that I did have field blur working with a slide adjuster but seem to have "lost" it
Thanks for bearing with me
