I would like to know if there are any updates to allow a person to scan while in photoshop.  I use Epson V750 Pro scanner and Mountain Lion Mac.  I  could do it with CS3.  CS6 will not allow.

Following your directions, I am now able to scan directly from photoshop.   The menu is different, not nearly as detailed as the menu from CS3.    There is no professional mode.  No choice of scanning contact sheet versus individual frames. I have no idea what # of grays means.  There is no histogram, there are very few controls.  Is this just the way CS6 is?  It makes me very angry that they have made such a lame menu and I am forced to use it unless I go back to my other  computer with CS3 which means going back and forth between computers.

Twain is gone, especially for 64 bit systems. Image Capture is like Windows WIA, just a basic stock scanning app provided by the OS, nothing fancy and far too sparse for many. You can contact Epson and see if they have something for CS6

You can simply direct your scanner's own software to open the scan in CS6. That way Photoshop is not locked up until the scan finishes. You do not need to call up your scanner in Photoshop. (The old Twain way).

If you still want to, then the time has come for a third party app to give you what you want. Vuescan is what I own and recommend. I paid for it a few years ago, and I still get upgrades.

It has the professional mode you want in its own Vuescan Twain.

Here's the info and trial download.  VueScan Scanner Software for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
