Question

Skillshare or Lynda?

I am a amateur graphic designer, that knows a bit over the basic of PS. I want to master PS and Illustrator, and I am debating between learning through Lynda or SkillShare. Anybody want to throw their opinion?

For Photoshop you are really spoilt for choice as there are so many amazing trainers around. For free training YouTube is a good resource. Then there are dedicated sites

Photoshop Training Channel – Photoshop Tutorials & Training

This one is owned by Jesus Ramirez who is a great teacher and an ACP here and presents most years at Adobe Max

Then there is Colin Smith's Photoshop Café

Learn Photoshop, photography and photoshop tutorials

Colin not only covers Photoshop but also photography in general. He has quite a lot of information on using drones which is quite fun, but many general Photoshop videos as well.

Dave Cross is probably known to most people as one of the 'Photoshop Guys' along with Scott Kelby

Dave Cross Workshops - Photoshop Education and More

Dave is very inventive and has developed many of the techniques us mere mortals use on a daily basis. I think his site is largely subscription funded.

Lynda is good and they offer trial memberships to see if you like their courses. Deke McClelland who I imagine is the most famous of all the Photoshop experts is exclusive now to Lynda although there are a few free individual videos on YouTube. ACPs are quite lucky as Adobe gives us free membership of Lynda.com, but I think I would probably pay for it if that wasn't the case

The learning source I actually pay for is Phlearn with Aaron Nace. I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere Aaron has the biggest number of users of all the Photoshop Gurus. Aaron has hundreds of free tutorials as well as Professional courses which are not free but contain vast amounts of information. What I like about Aaron Nace is he concentrates on creativity and how to do specific things more than most of the other experts and everything is done at a very gentle pace.

    https://phlearn.com/

Of the learning sources I have mentioned Phlearn is easily the cheapest at just over $70 a year including all the example images-so around $1.20 a week. Colin and Dave's sites I think are around $180 a year-although it's best to check with them as prices are always changing . Lynda is quite expensive around $350 a year for a premier membership, which you need really as that is the only way you can get all the images for the tutorials.

Lots of us are trainers on here... I'm one. If we have ACP next our name, we are probably a trainer . And we are all wonderful .

Actually ACPs are not usually trainers.  Although many trainers are ACPs.

And we are all wonderful .

    I can't argue with that .

    Lynda is great.

    Also recommend checking out https://www.udemy.com/courses/design/graphic-design/

Its a very affordable alternative and you always have access to the courses you pay for.

I do not know SkillShare. So I can’t answer. But it may be worth noting that Lynda.com can also be used via linkedin learning. Linkedin owns lynda.com and the courses are the same.
