Did you save your custom presets in the Photoshop Folder in your applications folder? Some updates replace the folders, some don't but you should NEVER save custom presets in there. Make yourself a folder far away - mine is in Drop Box - to keep your stuff. Unfortunately it's probably gone unless you have Time Machine or a backup to pull them from.

You don't have to use the selection brush - you can use any selection tool you like. Are you missing a tool? You can reset your toolbar or go to the ... at the bottom of the toolbar to edit it.

This is a feature - I use it all the time after I make a text layer and I want to make another one - so I can set up my text BEFORE I type it, otherwise I accidentally change the text I just created. Or sometimes I want no layers selected so the next layer I create automatically goes to the top of the stack. This is not something I ever want to change and I guarantee I'm not alone. I teach this as a specific way of using layers. I also use auto select with the move tool... maybe you don't and that's why it's so annoying?

You can't just click a button and hope to make this work. You need to place the image of the person where you want it on top of the car image. You can try using the new Harmonize feature in Photoshop Beta to blend the images together. I'm not clear on where you want the person in the car image. Learning some traditional Photoshop editing will go a long way for you to make this look they way you want.

You aren't missing much - they aren't great. Here is where they live on my mac. You could try to unistall and reinstall - they should automatically get installed for you. You can probably also search and maybe find them.

You have brush stokes and want to change the colors - a screenshot would help, include your layers panel. Are the brush strokes in their own layers? I would use a clipping mask above the layer set to color with a solid color in it... Create a colid color layer, set blend mode to color and clip to the layer to recolor.

What is the content of the image and what are you trying to do? Can you post a screenshot? People have reported issues if you have a subject in a bathing suit or a lot of skin showing. You can try "covering up" any parts of the image that might be causing it.

I would think this would fall under copyright like artwork - you can't outright claim something is your own and sell it. If they are using the brush and making slight alterations, that would be a copyright issue. There are so many brushes out there for free and it's really easy to make them, I don't understand why anyone would bother reselling existing brushes. I did a search but didn't find anything deifnitive except that you can't resell the brushes.

I downloaded the file - yes you have everything set up correctly. Select the QR code layer and just invert - cmd/ctrl + i to invert the color from black to white. You ahve a tiny square in there that is white and will turn black, just delete it, erase it or whatever. then do the exact same thing to teh IG logo layer and save it all as a png file.

How much RAM to you have and how much free hard drive space? I'm on a 2019 Macbook Pro with no problems- but my 1tb hard drive is 1/2 empty and I have 32GB RAM. Reset the preferences for starters.

Are the pixels already isolated on a layer so you have an alpha channel? The color replacement brush is NOT the answer. You just need to get the pixels on their own layer and then you can simply invert the colors or fill them with white. It's quite a few steps to type out. Is the current png transparent?

There are blue dots marking things that are new. The present in the home screen also shows you what's new. Usually it opens automatically after an update. The blue dots appear in the tools panel and drop down menus. I haven't see the blue circle. The discover panel (from the lightbulb) is for tutorials and learning. Did you open PS for the very first time or maybe click on an in app tutorial? The tutorials pop up blue boxes and outline things in blue to have you follow along.

I guess I'm not clear on what you are trying to accompish. ACR creates masks and they are in the file - you can only access them in Lightroom or ACR - there is no way to export them or use them in Photoshop.

Performance issues, cables might not be fast enough. I don't know all the specifics but it's still, definitely a thing. Use your external drive as a scratch disk. I wouldn't install the OS on an external, either - what if something happens to it? You want the main bits local, files can be on the external.

I don't why the masks aren't being saved, but you absolutely should NOT have Photoshop saved on an external SSD! You always want to run your apps on your internal drive.

When you hold the spacebar you get the hand tool. It's possible your spacebar was "stuck". Sometimes it goes rogue and thinks the spacebar is being held down or the keyboard is sticky or whatever. Hasn't happened to me in a long time but I occassionally see others on here with the issue. Just tapping it can get it to "let go". If it keeps happening, try resetting your preference to see if it helps. Make sure there is nothing on your keyboard causing the spacebar to stick and make sure you are always up to date with your Photoshop.

Transformations in Photoshop are destructive when working with pixels. If you tranform in Illustrator or InDesign, the tranformation is not destructive. I want to make sure that I'm fully comitted to the transformation in PS - I might be making something smaller that is not a smart object and essentially tossing away tons of pixels and information. This can't happen accidentally, which is exaclty what would happen if I didn't have to commit to my choice. It's habbit and super quick to just click return / enter when ready.

I find this very amusing - welcome to my life in 1997 when I had to make animated banner ads that had to be less than 10k. You need to old school it to get those files sizes down - reduce the number of colors, the dithering makes the file size larger, etc. We didnt have fancy tools to help us back then. Sounds like Stephen has some better ideas.

We can't see your layers or your options bar - make sure everything is set correctly in the options bar and it's not something weird with a layer. Can you share a more complete sceenshot? You can also try resetting the preferences - it will reset everything for you.

When you use a modifier key - in this case shift / option, you must release the mouse or whatever you are using FIRST, then the modifier key or it won't work. When using a mouse it's almost instant and not noticiable. However, when using something like a trackpad - which is what I use, you have to pause for a little longer, like a 1/2 a second and then release the keyboard. This may not be your issue but I would encourage you to try it. Also - try resetting preferences.
