Draw Inside - can't select object / group to move

When using Draw inside, I can't select the object. This has been happening for quite a while. I have a bear - his belly and his nose are draw in side of the shapes. All the parts are grouped together. If I use the selection tool on the tail, ear or the legs I can move him as expected. First screenshot shows move tool over leg and smart guides - everything work as it should. I can't us the move tool to move the goup over the head or the belly - second screenshot shows how the move tool doesn't grab the object but drags out a selection box instead. As long as I continue to drag outside the bounds, it will select the whole group, but then I have to click to drag again to move the bear. It should just grab, select and move the entire group with one mouse click.

I am on a late 2019 macbook pro with 32gb RAM. The current release generate times are super speedy - matter of seconds. The beta generate times are painful - like 5+ minutes. As a trainer, I can't sit around and watch it spin with my students also patiently waiting. I'm not teaching them with the beta now, but – will these times improve upon full release or should I start planning on upgrading my computer in the fall?

Right click on the file you want to open and choose open with: and choose the PS version. The newest version will take precedence. If you download the Beta for Bridge, you can set it to the PS version you prefer.

The old Mac OS is showing you a generic jpg icon instead of an image icon. If you are saving a jpg for web, the image icon takes up more space and is stripped out to keep it smaller for online - back in the day that is how we saved stuff. You are using ancient software. If saving a jpg not for web you should be able to save the image preview along with it. I don't remember what your options are in CS3. Try a save as instead of save for web...

Is it your monitor? I've increased the size of evertyhing on my MacBook Pro but the interaces still look small. I move them to one of myt external monitors (cheap, not 4K) and things are larger.

When resizing, hold Shift to to maintain the aspect ratio and not deform your object.

I have a trackpad and will never go back to a mouse. It's so much more effecient. Just a little pinch to zoom in and out.

Use the Hand tool - just hold the spacebar for the hand tool to move your image. Much more efficient then the scroll bars. You can also zoom into a fixed number at the lower left corner of screen to zoom in all images to the same amount.

Your background layer is not a background layer - it's layer 1 which means it's a regular layer. It's also transparent. You can convert it to a background layer. Select your layer 1 and go to the layer drop down menu.

I love the properties panel in InDesign. It's fantastic for beginners. I have them set up the interface to look a lot like PS and AI. I think it makes it easier to learn and feels more familiar if they have experience with the other apps. The properties panel in Illustrator has fantastic functionality. The panels are all there so you don't have to open the floating panels. The ... allows you to open the actual panel if you need more. I would like the InDesign Properties panel to work the same way. There are commands hidden in the paragraph fly out menu and we need to open the panel to get to them. The options for text wrap are limited in the Properties panel requiring that panel to be opened, etc. I would like to see each section have an elispe - ... - to pop open the panels. I don't teach the control panel to beginners - I think it's too overwhelming when first learning. Consistency between apps is always a good thing.

It's working as expected on my Mac - I have Sonoma 14.2.1 and same version of PS as you. Glad the work around worked for you. You could try resetting your preferences.

What brush do you have set for your eraser? Switch to the eraser tool and change your brush in the options bar at the the top of the screen.

I suggest you use layer masks. Your images are all the same opacity. It's hard to get the effect you are after with just using a brush on the edges. Layer masks will allow you to vary the opacity in the image itself. You can use brushes or I would suggest playing with gradients in the masks. Feathered selections - I prefer to do this in a layer mask as well - can also help with smoother transitions on the edges. I don't know what your experience with PS is, you might need to watch a few tutorials about using layer masks and gradients in masks.

I use a trackpad, zooming in and out is something I don't have to think about and is automatic with pinching. With a mouse, I prefer the keyboard shortcut using the spacebar + cmd/ctrl and clicking and dragging - you can also set up a scroll wheel - it's in the preferences.

When you make a brush, it just captures what it sees on your screen, so you are on the right track. It's all about opacity. Can you post a pic of what you have so far for some suggestions?

There is now something wrong with my reveal arrow to view all in folder. As you can see in the screenshot it's missing. But sometimes is shows up a little later. I have use the reveal arrow one level back. Bridge 14.0.3.200 on Mac Sonoma 14.2.1

If dragging and dropping is no longer working, use your libraries. Just drop the layer into a library and you can pull it out in Illustrator. I don't have any suggestions to fix the drag and drop issue.

I'm getting the same as you. You can play with the settings but I doubt you can get it to work like the preview picture. Can you post a screenshot from the video where they are making it look like that?
