Codec missing or unavailable .mov file in Premiere CC 2017 12.0.0

Hello, how are you guys?

as you can see from the title, I can't Import videos that are ( .MOV ) that shot on my iPhone 7.

To clear things out:

1: I understand that .MOV is a container and has multiple formats inside, and the file format that inside is HEVC video format.

2: I'm using 2017 Adobe PR (I don't like 2018 Ver., So I won't UPGRADE!!! because I don't like the new layout plus it's not stable).

3: Using a converter will kill the quality because I can simply run it through Quicktime and then export it as 4K and end of the story.

But that would kill the whole purpose of shooting in High Extreme Hevc through FilmicPro.

That's Pretty much, and I couldn't found a solution on Reddit, or even here, so I hope I would find one now.

Hi DoDaDi, check out this thread: Can't import HEVC-videos to Premiere Pro (2018)

The answer is, in fact, to upgrade to Premiere 2018. Note that in late October, not even Final Cut X supported this format. October is when CC 2018 came out, and it does support the format now.

I have two questions for you.

1) What about the layout do you not like? It hasn't really changed since 2017, and you can always customize your workspaces to make them look identical to your 2017 version. In fact, if you use a custom workspace and migrate it forward, you should see no change.

2) What's not stable about it? I've been using it since it came out, and I'm not having any issues, especially with the most recent patch update from last week.

I recommend that you install 2018, but make sure that you UNCHECK the box to remove the 2017 version. This will allow you to test out 2018, see how it works with your iPhone video, and then go back to 2017 if you're not satisfied.

Then I guess, I'll just work with converting since I don't want to upgrade.

1: on the ride side, there's the wheel to resize the footage on the timeline, I don't like how it's operating now, I like the old one, where it I can change with the wheel only, and not I have to change by clicking and that is annoying.

2: it crashes, but to be fair, when it first came out, I had this issue and my friend @Seosama posted something about it here as well, where it crashes, when you want to encode or import the footage, where 2017 is more stable and never had those issues with nor me or my friend, which we work together on the projects.

But still, the main reason I won't change is the wheel and it's operating now

Thanks, for the reply, and I'll check that post, but if I had to change to 2018, then that won't be a solution.

and be more honest about it, I don't like that Adobe change things with every single update, and we can't even get used to one set of work, it took me forever to get used to the changes from 2015 to 2017 ver. and now I have to deal with 2018, that's too much, I like to be with safe zone when I'm working on something, and I don't have to deal with anything else.
