Editing a face in a video to show only the lips

Hello,

I want to edit a video of someone's face to show only their lips as they talk. Afterwards, I want to add to the edited lips effects. How should I go about this? Should I record the video and crop? Or is there a simpler way to do this?

Thank you for reading and answering to the post.

Do you mean only the lips, or do you mean the mouth. If just the lips - as Peru Bob mentioned - slap on a brightly coloured lipstick while shooting and then key it out.

If you want the lips and surrounding mouth area - you'll have to mask the mouth. This is easy if the person isn't moving, and if the person is moving - you want to track the mask too.

A reference of your goal would help.

I'm sorry. I'm very new to the Adobe softwares, so some of the terminology

is foreign to me.

I want to record my subject's face then remove everything except the mouth

area (lips and teeth). Afterwards, edit the lips with designs.

If I key the lips, will I be able to remove the rest of the face? What

color lipstick would be good for keying?

Thank you for the replies so far. eikonoklastes and Peru Bob

If the lips have lipstick on them, you can key them.

What effects will you be applying?
