I'm getting so tired of giving Adobe money for Premiere CC - it is overflowing with bugs, basic usability errors (like not keeping the clip I've just copied selected - my mouse was on it, it was right there under my mouse!) and some terrible performance issues (crashing when I change renderers? come on). In 15 years of being a software professional I have NEVER seen anything like it. Every time I open it, there's something new awry.
So today, I've just exported XML from PPro with the Export > Final Cut Pro XML option and Final Cut Pro X DOESN'T RECOGNISE THE FILE. What the hell does Final Cut Pro XML mean then?
I have to buy a $10 app now to convert the alleged "Final Cut Pro XML" (whatever the hell that is) file to an actual Final Cut Pro XML file???
WTAF, Adobe? Why is it an option if it doesn't actually do what it says on the menu item? It's like they are deliberately frustrating users.
I despair.
Apple abandoned FCP-7 and below years ago, and only supports FCP-X.
FCP-X is a completely different application that unfortunately shares the same name. Hence the confusion.
There are third party resources to convert the XML that Premiere generates into a file acceptable to FCP-X.
Keep in mind that XML is a very terse language, and so not all components of a Premiere Pro edit will make the transfer to FCP-X.
Be sure to read the warning/heads up about what will make the transfer and what wil

I think it means its for FCP and not FCPx which is not quite the same.

Thanks guys.
It's just really odd that it's not current version to current version and I have to go through some third party software.
I think part of my frustration (and annoyance) over any bit of PPro is I've been using it for a year and it keeps throwing curveballs my way. It's horribly unstable rendering-wise with CUDA (which is why I wanted to switch to FCPx), OpenCL makes it crash and the best the engineering team can come up with is "switch to software rendering" so an 11 minute CUDA render takes 2 hours.
I'd also prefer it if Adobe staff didn't mark answers to my questions as correct before I'd even looked at them. I'll decide what's a correct answer to my question, thank you.
