Question

Interpreted Footage - 23.976 auto rounds to 23.98 fps. Timeline incompatibility.

Premiere Pro CC Version 13.0: When I modify my 59.94 footage by interpreting it as 23.976, it automatically rounds up to 23.98 fps. I tried a few times, but it continues to round up, so I click “OK,” figuring it's just rounding up. It never rounded up like this in the past.

When I try placing these 23.98 clips into the sequence timeline settings I always use (“DSLR 1080p 24fps”— technically 23.976), it tells me the clip frame rate is incompatible with the sequence frame rate. A lot of sources online are saying 23.98 and 23.976 should be one in the same.

I tried reimporting my original 59.94 clip and re-modifying it again but once again, it won’t let me interpret as 23.976. It rounds up. I looked over my preferences to see if maybe I checked a box of some sort by accident, but I can't seem to find anything amiss.

What am I doing wrong? Why am I no longer able to interpret footage as 23.976?

Version 13.1 came out.  Maybe try upgrading.

Thanks, Jim. I hadn't seen the new update.

I just upgraded and gave it another shot, but it continues to round up.

It must be an issue on my end. I must've changed a setting somewhere. Will keep playing around with it.

OK.

After Modifying the clips, create a new sequence by right clicking on one of the clips and choosing New Sequence From Clip.  Work there.
