Premiere 2019 on MacBook Pro (2018) Audio Hardware Issue: I am required to update audio hardware settings every time I plug in my headphones or take them out

This issue has been referenced here Premiere Pro wont play sound through headphones but I need a solution that does not require me to update the hardware settings every time I plug in my headphones or take them out of the audio jack.

I have tried the trick of updating the audio hardware Default Input to No Input...but then as soon as I unplug my headphones premiere gives me the error message: No valid audio output channels for playback found. Please check the audio hardware preferences.  So then it's back to the drawing board.

I'll note that I had previously been using premiere 2019 on a macbook pro 2017 model and never ran into this issue. Only when I got a new macbook pro 2018 model and downloaded premiere onto it has this issue occurred.

What am I missing?
