Preview screens turn black or white while editing. Audio works fine

It seems a lot of people have been getting this issue. While editing, the video preview suddenly freezes and turns either white or black. This affects all projects. So if I try to open another project I worked on yesterday, the problem persists.

Things I tried so far and didn't work:

1. File -> Project settings -> General -> change Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) to Mercury Playback Engine Software only -> Keep Previews

2. Update nVidia drivers.

3. Reinstall Premiere.

Please help!

Can your machine handle the footage?

Computer specs?

Type of  footage?

Premiere exact version?

Be specific.

Yes, the machine can handle graded 4K footage at full preview quality (GTX 1060, i7-6700HQ, 32 GB RAM).

The problem happens with any type of footage.

I have the latest version of Premiere CC.

2. Update nVidia drivers.

Try old drivers.
