Question

Running out of space and Premiere won't let me render if i move old MP4s

Premiere Pro CC pros:

I've been working on a project and "save as" new ones as I've edited through. Now the solid state drive i've been saving the MP4 files is only a few GB left, and the film I'm trying to export is 1GB.

I believe this is causing errors when I try to render another MP4. Any work around so that Premiere doesn't have to refer back to older MP4 files so I can clear them off the HD and export?

    Any work around

Get more space.  Editing needs lots of it.  You're far better off accommodating that reality that trying to avoid it.

You need at least 4x the size of the file in hdd space for encoding.

Nearly full is almost the same as full.

Can you be explicit about what you're doing? Your description was somewhat unclear.

Are you thinking that Premiere is referencing the MP4s you already exported? The only reference your project should have to exported files is if you checked the box at the bottom of the Export Settings window to import files after they're exported. If this isn't what you're referring to then I'm not sure what you're saying.

Do you only have one drive total?

Are you rendering files before you export?

If you're rendering files are you checking the Use Previews box at the bottom of the Export Settings window?

You should really not be exporting to a drive that's almost full. Premiere has to create and store lots of cache files for all of your media, but I can't comment any more since I don't really know the issue you're running into.
