Video Preview Blank

So, I was working in premiere pro, and I imported some videos to edit, and I found out that Premiere Pro had the following problems:

-The Video Preview window is always blank (Doesn't show a black screen or anything, it just shows nothing)

-The audio mixer shows no audio level bars

-and the timelapse marker does not move even when the video is playing

Is there any way to fix this? I have tried working with hardware acceleration in premiere pro preferences but that hasn't fixed anything. I have also tried re-installing it and resetting the settings to default as well, but still nothing has worked so far.

Thanks in advance for your help! ^_^

Thank you. I would rather fix this problem then switch to another editing software to get my work done.

Hi Boomer Bash,

Please send me your Adobe ID in a PM. I'll check why you're not able to contact support.

Additionally, try this step:

  • Rename the Premiere Pro folder to Old_Premiere Pro in Documents > Adobe

This will reset your customization and will force Premiere Pro to create a fresh profile.

Hope this helps.

Exactly... im going to downgrade to 2015.3 (maybe try 2017.0) ... I never really had any problems with that.

FAQ: How do I reinstall Premiere Pro CC 2015.2 (9.2)?

Edit: same issue in 2017.0

OK, I downgraded to 2015.3 and turned off CUDA... it appears to be working now.... will update tomorrow. Kinda sad I cant use my 1080 i invested in... ill try swapping out with a 960 and 970 as well as downgrading nvidia drivers

OK, so I downgraded my nvidia driver to 368.81 and upgraded Ppro to 2017.0 and turned on CUDA. Everything seems to working smoothly now

Yeah it is... especially when you have clients expecting a finished product in a week. :/ Also... there is no beta driver and  the glitch starts to happen immediately after I double click on a file in a bin (so I can preview in source) if I click and drag it into the timeline and play from there I don't seem to have an issue.... but who can work like that? Personally, I don't think this is a driver issue...but a software issue.

For me, it won't show anything in the preview at all. Which is a real pain.

And I know what you mean. Not only do I have school projects I need to edit (which also have some strict deadlines)

but I also have lots of commissions being given to me that require video editing so, this isn't exactly good for the end user.

Either way, if I cannot get this problem fixed soon on the Adobe forums, I might just have to call tech support or attempt to send them an e-mail. I just don't know if they're going to care about this issue since they are such a huge company...

I'm having the same issues... but i'm using Red footage and a gtx1080 on 376.19 driver (going to update to beta in a bit)

Rest of specs: i7 6700k @ 4.6ghz

RAID 0 SSD

32 gb ram

ASUS mobo

The glitch seems to happen after i'm working on the project for a bit. Also, when I close Premiere it doesn't end the process... i have to end the task manually via task manager.

For me it happens immediately. Right when I get into premiere pro it has these issues.

And I've had the exact same problem. After I close Premiere Pro, it goes from an "App" to a "Background Process" in the task manager and I have to manually end the task or I won't be able to open Premiere Pro.

I think this is a major issue the software developers need to fix.
