Question

weird time remapping issue after relinking footage, (roundtrip DR and PP)

Hi there. I have tried in moths to find a simple round trip workflow between Davinci and Premiere Pro. The Xml workflow is a pain in the — so I want something more simple. Want I have found and try to use:

1. export proxies from Davinci

2. Edit the proxies in Premiere

3. Colorgrade the original footage Davinci and export as individual clips.

3. Offline all proxy clips in Premiere

4. Relink the clips in premiere to the high quality graded clips.

It works fine except nested clips but I can live with that.

THE MAIN ISSUE!!!

Everything (except nested clips) work just fine. But after saving and reopening the project there is some seriously random issues.

All clips that has some sort of time remapping is completely screwed. Lets say I have 60fps with time remapping to 40%, it should playback at 24fps. What Premiere dose is that it plays the same frame for 3 frames then plays the next frame for 3 frames and so on. So the footage is playing in like 8fps or so.

Please help I really really need a solution for this!

Best regards Olle

I've also found the integration between the two programs less than acceptable.  I use the following two solutions.

1. Edit, color and deliver in Resolve.  It's not quite as good as PP on the edit front, but for many projects, it can probably do the job well enough.

2. Do a rough grade first in Resolve and export out Transcodes.  Something like DNx or Cineform.  Use those to edit, color and deliver from Premiere Pro.  It's not quite as good as Resolve for color work, but probably good enough to get the job done for many projects.

In other words, do everything in one program.

Thanks but I really want to find a good workflow between the programs. So that I'm capable to produce more professional videos!

What annoys me the most is that my current method works until I save and reopen the project!

Anyone else that have some advice?

thanks, I know pros are using the XML workflow but I so time consuming and not reliable. I have tried to use XMLs but even when I turn of all attributes in Premiere and no translation errors, the XML is completely screwed in resolve. In/out points are wrong time and on some clips speed are screwed.

Maybe it depends on the type of files you work with. I working with cdng so maybe that is why I have more problems to get it to work.

I wish there was some sort of dynamic link feature between Davinci and Premiere hehe;D

I working with cdng

In that case, I recommend option 1 above - edit, color and deliver entirely in Resolve.  PP just doesn't handle CinemaDNG correctly.
