Hi,

I didn't realize I was signing up for the annual version of the adobe cloud subscription.... I had it several times before (monthly) and the price was similar, and I was able to cancel whenever I wanted... now I don't use it as much, I went to cancel... and it's asking me to update a payment method... Last month I renewed my card, so the payment method isn't updated, and they can't take my payment... now my question is... If I want to cancel this and not use it again, can I just leave the payment method not updated? Will they eventually cancel it and leave me alone? Or with every unpaid month, will the balance add up, and I end up owing close to a thousand bucks by the time the "agreement" is over? Is there anything I can do to get out of this annual agreement without paying the fees?

Please help.

Adobe have the right to keep charging until you cancel, since you agreed to that, and to sell on your debt to a debt recovery agency, if you do not settle it - this can easily triple the debt. I'm not saying they will do that, but they do have the right.

The cancellation fee is 50% of what remains to pay in the current annual cycle, so it becomes zero in the final month, until it renews. So there is no fee in the final month, but it's always cheaper to cancel now and take the hit.

"Is there anything I can do to get out of this annual agreement without paying the fees? " Naturally there is no "I want to ignore my contract, let me cancel for free" button. However, it seems that Adobe Customer Service does have some leeway for people in difficult circumstances. But beware: they may try very hard to give you some free months. This is not "free months then I will cancel for free". It is "free months, then the contract will restart with full cancellation fee". Take care not to accept such a deal.
