Question

Annual Subscription has just been renewed, can I cancel and avoid cancellation fees?

I purchased an annual student plan last year, but my student plan has since been cancelled and changed to the regular subscription and payment. My current university provides Adobe Suite for free, and would prefer to cancel my subscription so I can switch accounts altogether. I'm a bit frustrated the annual subscription renewed itself, and now I can't cancel it without incurring a massive cancellation fee. My new annual plan is less than 24hrs old, and I feel I should be able to get a full refund and cancellation for the renewed plan. If no refund, just no cancellation fee.

Support has been hopeless, each time I try and get on with a real person, the conversation is immediately ended for technical difficulties.

you can contact adobe support and ask, but you (or others) should cancel after the 12th/last payment to ensure there's no automatic renewal.

there are 2 ways to contact adobe support; chat and twitter (now x):

chat:
if you have or want to purchase a subscription, use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

twitter/x:
tweet @AdobeCare

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative.
