Buy photoshop outright?

Is it possible to actually buy photoshop like we used to be able to, or are we now stuck with monthly/yearly fees indefinitely?  I do not need the latest version all the time and would be happy to just buy it every few years.    I sure hope Adobe hasn't gone over to the dark side...

    CS6 is that last version you will be able to purchase a perpetual license for. After that it is the Creative Cloud version OR Photoshop Elements which as they say is not the same thing.
