Have recently bought old 2012 osx el capitan. 10.11.6  MacBook Pro. And creative suite 3 to install. Installation code accepted but it is treating the package as an UPGRADE which it is not. I know it's old and slow... Just like me.

Any help gratefully received.

CS3 is dead

The CS2-CS3-CS4 activation servers have been removed from service
-https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite.html?promoid=19SCDRQK
-So even if you have a disc or saved download, CS2-CS3-CS4 are completely dead
-Adobe also no longer supplies the special non-activation version of CS2-CS3-C

CS3 from 2007 is discontinued & obsolete.  You can't buy it anywhere on the planet now. Even if you could, you can't activate it.

Given the age of your computer and OS, you're unlikely to find any modern desktop apps that are compatible with it.  I think the best you can hope for are online apps that work from a modern web browser (latest Firefox or Chrome).

Try Adobe Express for free.  If you like it, you can upgrade to the Premium version for $10/month which includes:

  • Adobe Express web and mobile app
  • Premiere Rush (video editing on desktop and mobile)
  • Photoshop Express (mobile)
  • Spark Video (mobile)
  • Spark Page (mobile)
  • Adobe Portfolio website + hosting
  • 100 GB of cloud storage
  • All premium templates and design assets including the collection of over 160 million royalty-free Adobe Stock photo collection.

Adobe Express System Requirements:

https://helpx.adobe.com/express/system-requirements.html

Works on:

  • Windows 8.1 or later
  • MacOS 10.13 or later
  • Chromebook

Hope that helps.

you can install (if you use a compatible os) and use for 30days.  then the trial will expire and there's nothing easy you can do work-around that.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
