make it so that you can immediately buy the program. instead of a subscription.. this is very inconvenient

You don't say what program. Some programs are subscription only. Some are single fee only. Some have a choice. But sure, Adobe prefer subscriptions. They found people didn't buy upgrades, as they expected, but sometimes were just happy with the software and kept running it for years or decades. Just not playing the game.
