Scammed by Adobe with their trial period

Hi,

 

I wanted to test Adobe Lightrooms properties and tried it on trial for one picture. So I subcribed for the 14-day trial for it. I forgot to cancel and now I´m supposed to pay for one year of a service that I basically never use? What is this kind of a contract where you don´t clearly show the customer that you will be FORCED to pay for a one-year subsription if you try their product for 14 days?

 

And then when you try to find help from customer service, there of course isn´t one available and you have to search for pre-answered questions and have no option to contact a real person from customer support. Seems like it is intentionally designed to rip off as many customers as possible and make it impossible to contact real customer service. Great job Adobe. Will make sure this gets noticed here in Finland, and will contact finnish customer protection authorities.

I can take responsibility for not cancelling and I am not blaming Adobe for that. I understand that I have to pay for the month that I forgot to cancel. But how can someone defend a service which doesn´t clearly state that they will be billing you huge amounts (the whole year) after the trial period and if you try to cancel, then they will charge you with half of the service fee from a whole year. I think it is just for ripping off the people who try to trial your product. Don´t know if this kind of a subscription system is normal in the states or globally in general, but we don´t have it here, so of course I´m surprised and angered by it. I do see a lot of similar posts on this forum, so this is a common problem which is badly addressed by Adobe on their behalf.

you forgot to cancel and you think that's adobe's fault?

 

contact adobe support. they may be more (or less) sympathetic. there are 3 ways to contact adobe; chat, phone and twitter:

chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. ie, double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an adobe.com domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. then check again and be very suspicious. any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam, https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/staying-safe-in-the-adobe-support-community/td-p/12919684/redirect_from_archived_page/true

actually, it does state, if you select the annual plan, that you're making a one year commitment.  

 

in any case, you're not alone in failing to notice that. explain that to adobe support. they can be sympathetic, especially if you're honest and non-combative.
