I accidentally created a Behance/Adobe profile with a new email id, which I wanted to switch with the current one.
Although I deleted that account and waited a few days, I am still unable to replace it new with the current id as Adobe tells me this id is already in use.

I am afraid that Adobe does not allow reuse of an email even if the account associated with that email is deleted, that is the way their system works. For specific help and more details you can contact support via the Admin Console if you are an Enterprise subscribser. If you have an individual subscription, follow the steps given below
1. Go to https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
2. Wait a bit on the page that opens up, it should automatically open a chat popup. If that does not happen then look for a call out/chat icon at the bottom right, click over it and the chat popup should open
3. In order to talk to a human type "AGENT" in the chat box
4. If you are not able to get to the chat window, then disable your adblockers, firewall, enable cookies/scripts on your browser. If it still fails then change your browser/machine/network.

that deleted account's email can not be reused. the deleted account is still accessible by adobe and that email remains.
