Acrobat opens on its own on Mac mojave

New Here ,

This has started to happen to me as well.

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC just opens itself at random times on Mac OS 10.14.2. I do not have it as a start-up application and it was not open last time I turned off the computer.

I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro DC until you fix this issue. Very annoying.

Hi Florians,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

As you have mentioned the application opens itself and you did not add it as the startup application.

Could you please check if there is any Adobe application/file listed under the startup applications?

Please refer to the steps mentioned below:

- Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences.

- Select Users & Groups in the system preference window.

- Then select the user account at the extreme left of the User & Groups window.

- On right, click on the Login items tab and check if the Acrobat application is listed there.

If that does not help, please share the Acrobat Pro DC version you were using on the Mac.

Did you make any recent changes like updating or changing settings on your Mac after which the issue started?

We will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Meenakshi

I'm having the same issue. It doesn't happen on initial login, but rather it happens randomly when I wake my computer up. Acrobat is not part of my log in applications.

I'm on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Acrobat Version 19.010.20098 !

Hi Reiggin,

Could you please confirm the Adobe Acrobat version you are using on Mac?

Did you try once the uninstalling and re-installing it.

If not, please uninstall Acrobat using the cleaner tool and reboot the machine.

Then re-install the application and check if the application still opens on startup.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Acrobat version 19.010.20069

Mojave 10.14.2

Acrobat opens every time I log in. I do not have it in my 'start-up items' nor do I have it set as the default pdf reader.

A similar thing happens to me.

I recently upgraded from OS X Yosemite (10.10.5) to MacOS  Sierra 10.12.6

Since then, whenever I start up my IMac, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Version 2019.010.20069) spontaeously opens then, after 8 to 10 seconds, spontaneously closes. This is the only time the App opens unless I open it deliberately myself.

I don’t find the spontaneous opening/closing at start-up particularly irritating, but this behaviour seems peculiar to me and I’d like to know why it happens and whether it is practicable to stop it.

(I’ve tried the suggestions made by “STAFF” above, but the issue continues.)

I'm also getting this all of a sudden. I'm on High Sierra (10.13.6). Nothing system-wide has changed but each time I open my Macbook Air and wake from sleep Adobe Acrobat launches (ver 19.010). I've just checked my Login items and I have a AdobeResourceSynchronizer (screenshot attached) item that I do not recognise. Is it safe to remove this from Login items considering I use Creative Cloud to keep files synced across machines?Screen Shot 2019-03-15 at 00.53.43.png

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As most of you are using the old version of the applicaiton, would you mind updating the application latest version released recently?

Please update the application and check if the issue persists.

In the application, go to Help > Check for updates. You may also refer to the following help document to check the latest version available. Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Also, try once to uncheck the box for Adobe Acrobat Syncronizer and check if that makes any difference.

If the issue still occurs, would you please help us with the log files for the same.

Regards,

Meenakshi

I am having the same issue running the MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 beta and the latest Acrobat DC 2019.10. Even after removing Adobe Resource Synchronizer from the login items, it still persists. No file is opened and no explanation is given for why it automatically opens on my 2017 MacBook Pro 15".

I am encountering the same exact issue. It's automatically open every time I turn on my Mac after being asleep. Re-installing did not fix it nor did removing anything Adobe related from the startup items. Hope this gets resolved soon.

Seeing the same behavior.

Mac OS X El Captain 10.11.6

Acrobat DC v.2019.010.20098

Also wondering what the AdobeResourceSyncrhonizer does and what I lose if I remove it.

I'm going to remove it from Login items (I believe I've done this once before), but not delete the app itself yet.

It seems it is part of Acrobat Reader (and presumably DC) for keeping track of documents across CC or in use by multiple users.

Same issue here. macOS Mojave 10.4.4, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2019.010.20099 (Build: 19.10.20099.322322). Adobe Creative Cloud says there are no app updates available, so this must be the latest version.

Preview (not Acrobat) is the default PDF viewer on my system. It will remain the default as long as Acrobat remains buggy and slow.

AdobeResourceSyncronizer is listed in my Login items list. I set it to "Hide" weeks ago with no effect.

Acrobat often launches, unbidden, when I log in to unlock my screen. This has happened for months. I use "Force Quit" and move on with my day with a growing desire to avoid Adobe products wherever I can.

I have the same problem. Here's what I have:

Mac OS Mojave 10.14.4

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2019.010.20099 (Build: 19.10.20099.322322)

I don't have anything Adobe in my login items. It just opens at random times and then closes after a couple of seconds.

Same issue. Mojave 10.14.4 on my Mac Air, Reader 2019.010.20099, build 19.10.20099.322322. Reader opens randomly, and I force quit it like I usually do. 30 seconds later, does the same thing. Reader is supposed to be a stable program and widely installed on all computers, but it looks like the Mac version of this app is not stable. And the fact that we haven't gotten a response from  meenakshin83966505 since March 14th is just abominable. Very disappointed that this hasn't been elevated yet, even though there's two threads that I've seen with people with the EXACT same issue.

Same issue.

Mac OS 10.14.5 (the problem has occurred since I used 10.13)

Creative Cloud 2019

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (always updated to the latest version)

Users & Groups>Login Items, I only have AdobeResourceSynchronizer selected  Nothing else is listed

And YES, all of my Adobe apps are updated to the latest versions.  To be honest, no app should open on its own without being listed and selected in Login Items.  What kind of nonsense is suggesting that a user has to update their apps just because tech support can't figure out why Acrobat Pro DC opens on people's systems?  It shouldn't matter.  Only Acrobat Pro DC does this.

Mac OS 10.11.6

Creative Cloud 2019 (version 4.8.1.435).

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (always updated to the latest version possible, as im still at El Capitan)

Users & Groups>Login Nothing.

Uninstalled it, and now downloading it again to see what happens...

Edit: Actually it seems that i do not have the Acrobat package anymore.... it just disappeared from the Creative Cloud app! And i'm not able to download it again from the website...
